Plant Sterols in 60 seconds

Plant sterols are essentially the plant version of our own cholesterol, and are commonly added to various products because there is evidence that they may be able to lower our cholesterol levels, thus protecting the cardiovascular system. However, plant sterols are not all that great, and there is evidence which suggests that they can cross the blood/ brain barrier, and inhibit nerve function. There is certainly more research needed this subject.

So does the AHA. But the French, German and English food and drug agencies say no. What are phytosterols? Phyto means PLANTS. Sterol means an ALCOHOL (or ester) component added to CHOLESTEROL. There are actually studies showing increased cardiovascular events in study participants with increased blood levels of phytosterols in the blood. There was no statement, however, that this came from dietary phytosterols. The bottom line for me? I don't think there is enough evidence to take phytosterols supplements. But I also don't think there is enough evidence to warn patients off them. About Dr. Brewer - Ford Brewer is a physician that started as an Emergency Doctor. How to Lower Arterial Cholesterol test for plaque buildup in arteries

08:20
How to Lower Arterial Cholesterol test for plaque buildup in arteries Disclaimer:This Video only For Educational Purpose Some sources of cholesterol raise your high-density lipoprotein HDL, or "good" cholesterol levels, while others raise your low-density lipoprotein LDL, or "bad" cholesterol levels. Elevated LDL cholesterol levels can cause atherosclerosis, a condition in which cholesterol accumulates in the arteries and prevents the flow of oxygen-rich blood throughout the body. Arterial cholesterol levels accumulate over time, and certain lifestyle factors can increase the severity and the rate of accumulation. High cholesterol levels can lead to heart disease and stroke, two of the most common causes of death in America. Learning how to lower your cholesterol can reduce your chances of developing heart disease and can help you live a healthier and longer life Changing Your Diet 1 Cut out bad fat sources. Trans fat and saturated fat are the worst forms of fat, as they carry the highest risk of heart disease.[6] Saturated fat is one of the biggest sources of cholesterol in many people's diets. Reducing or eliminating your intake of trans and saturated fats can help significantly reduce your cholesterol levels, when combined with other dietary and lifestyle changes. Common sources of saturated fat include red meat, poultry, and full-fat dairy products. Trans fat is found in some meat and dairy products, as well as baked goods, chips (potato, corn, and tortilla varieties), fried food, margarine, and some non-dairy creamer. Avoid foods labeled with "partially hydrogenated," as these are often high in trans fat. Health experts recommend limiting your saturated fat consumption to 10 percent or less of your total caloric intake, but advise even lower levels (no more than seven percent of your total calories) to significantly reduce the risk of heart disease. Trans fat intake should be kept as low as possible, as many doctors consider it one of the worst types of dietary fat in existence 2 Choose healthier fats. Our bodies need some fat, and it's important to choose healthy types of fat instead of harmful forms. Healthier sources of fat include monounsaturated fat, polyunsaturated fat, and omega-3 fatty acids. Good sources of monounsaturated and polyunsaturated fats include avocados, olive oil, safflower oil, peanut oil, and corn oil Common plant-based sources of omega-3 fatty acids include ground flaxseed, canola oil, soybean oil, walnuts, and sunflower seeds Fish is high in omega-3 fatty acids. Choose healthy fish like salmon, tuna, trout, mackerel, sardines, and herring 3 Eat high-fiber foods. Certain high-fiber foods have been shown to be beneficial to the heart, and can even lower cholesterol levels when paired with other lifestyle changes. That's because soluble fiber reduces the absorption of cholesterol in the bloodstream, and can reduce your overall LDL ("bad") cholesterol levels. Good sources of soluble fiber include oatmeal, oat bran, kidney beans, apples, pears, barley, and prunes. Aim to eat at least five to ten grams of soluble fiber each day to help lower your total and LDL cholesterol 4 Look for plant sterols or stanols. Sterols and stanols are naturally-occurring plant components that have been shown to help block the absorption of cholesterol in the body.Incorporating plant sterols and stanols into a heart-healthy diet can help reduce your cholesterol levels and lower your risk of heart disease. Plant sterols can lower LDL cholesterol levels by five to fifteen percent, according to some studies. Eat at least two grams of plant sterols/stanols each day to see results in your cholesterol. Sterols are naturally occurring in all plants. Excellent sources of naturally-occurring plant sterols include vegetable oils, nuts/legumes, grains, cereals, and many leafy vegetables. Sterols/stanols are usually added as a fortified supplement to certain foods, including some types of margarine, orange juice, and yogurt drinks. Not every margarine or orange juice will be fortified, so check the label to confirm that a given product has added sterols/stanols SUBSCRIBE TO MORE VIDEOS FOLLOW ME SOCIAL PROFILES: YouTube: https://goo.gl/yEbKyd Google+: https://goo.gl/T1fvmo FaceBook: https://goo.gl/nXwenV Twitter: https://goo.gl/yMmnDl Pintrest: https://goo.gl/KHEQjl Linkedin: https://goo.gl/262zkC WATCH MORE USEFUL VIDEOS : 1.How to Use Meditation to Treat PTSD|ptsd and schizophrenia https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3uK9bfEo6Wk ………………………………………………………………………………………………………… 2.How to Use a Mala|beads with meaning https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fmH799CS1yE ……………………………………………………………………………………………………….. 3.how does meditation help depression |guided meditation depression https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EKhvdXnTawU

Top 11 Foods Help Lower Cholesterol - Drop Cholesterol Naturally

03:34
Get it here: http://choles.811naturalcure.com Top 11 Foods Help Lower Cholesterol - Drop Cholesterol Naturally Here is the list: 1. Oats. An easy first step to improving your cholesterol is having a bowl of oatmeal or cold oat-based cereal like Cheerios for breakfast. It gives you 1 to 2 grams of soluble fiber. Add a banana or some strawberries for another half-gram. 2. Barley and other whole grains. Like oats and oat bran, barley and other whole grains can help lower the risk of heart disease, mainly via the soluble fiber they deliver. 3. Beans. Beans are especially rich in soluble fiber. They also take awhile for the body to digest, meaning you feel full for longer after a meal. That's one reason beans are a useful food for folks trying to lose weight. With so many choices — from navy and kidney beans to lentils, garbanzos, black-eyed peas, and beyond — and so many ways to prepare them, beans are a very versatile food. 4. Eggplant and okra. These two low-calorie vegetables are good sources of soluble fiber. 5. Nuts. A bushel of studies shows that eating almonds, walnuts, peanuts, and other nuts is good for the heart. Eating 2 ounces of nuts a day can slightly lower LDL, on the order of 5%. Nuts have additional nutrients that protect the heart in other ways. 6. Vegetable oils. Using liquid vegetable oils such as canola, sunflower, safflower, and others in place of butter, lard, or shortening when cooking or at the table helps lower LDL. 7. Apples, grapes, strawberries, citrus fruits. These fruits are rich in pectin, a type of soluble fiber that lowers LDL. 8. Foods fortified with sterols and stanols. Sterols and stanols extracted from plants gum up the body's ability to absorb cholesterol from food. Getting 2 grams of plant sterols or stanols a day can lower LDL cholesterol by about 10%. 9. Soy. Eating soybeans and foods made from them, like tofu and soy milk, was once touted as a powerful way to lower cholesterol. Analyses show that the effect is more modest — consuming 25 grams of soy protein a day (10 ounces of tofu or 2 1/2 cups of soy milk) can lower LDL by 5% to 6%. 10. Fatty fish. Eating fish two or three times a week can lower LDL in two ways: by replacing meat, which has LDL-boosting saturated fats, and by delivering LDL-lowering omega-3 fats. Omega-3s reduce triglycerides in the bloodstream and also protect the heart by helping prevent the onset of abnormal heart rhythms. 11. Fiber supplements. Supplements offer the least appealing way to get soluble fiber. Two teaspoons a day of psyllium, which is found in Metamucil and other bulk-forming laxatives, provide about 4 grams of soluble fiber Get more info here: http://choles.811naturalcure.com Reference: 1. Have you been looking for natural approaches for lowering your cholesterol? Well you've probably been hearing a lot about plant stanols and sterols lately. So... just what are plant stanols and sterols and why does the National Institutes of Health (NIH) recommend themas a natural approach for lowering cholesterol? Stanols and sterols are natural substances found in plants that have a structural resemblance to cholesterol. Because they look a lot like cholesterol, they compete with cholesterol for absorption from the intestine into the bloodstream. The NIH recommends that people with elevated cholesterol consume 2 grams of plant stanols and sterols a day because over 80 clinical studies have proven that they work. Two grams a day of stanols and sterols is sufficient to lower LDL cholesterol (the bad kind) by 9 to 13%. And many other clinical studies have shown that lowering LDL cholesterol by that much will lower your risk of a heart attack by 18-26%. No wonder the NIH is so firm on stanols and sterols! International guidelines(1-8) encourage to consider plant stanol ester, the functional ingredient in Benecol® foods and food supplements, as part of the management of raised cholesterol especially for the following three patient groups: 1. Individuals with high LDL-cholesterol at low or intermediate cardiovascular risk who do not qualify for statin therapy 2. High and very high risk patients, such as patients with diabetes, who fail to reach their LDL-cholesterol targets on statins alone, or are statin intolerant 3. Adults and children with familial hypercholesterolemia When consumed in sufficient amounts as part of daily meals plant stanol ester lowers LDL-cholesterol in 2-3 weeks by 10%, on average, and keeps it at the lower level. Plant stanol ester has been shown to lower cholesterol. High cholesterol is a risk factor in the development of coronary heart disease. References: 1. Gylling et al. EAS Consensus Paper. http://Cholesterol.GetLivingHealthy.com WHAT IS CHOLESTEROL? Cholesterol is a fat-like, waxy compound found in the blood and body tissue. The body normally produces enough for its needs. When there is too much cholesterol in the blood, it can build up in the walls of the arteries and eventually cause the arteries to harden. If the circulation of blood through the coronary artery becomes completely blocked, a heart attack will be the result. There's good cholesterol and bad -- but do you know the difference? Here are some helpful hints and facts to help you distinguish the two. Dr. Oz's Cholesterol Facts: -- Ideally, your low density lipoprotein (LDL) cholesterol levels should be under 100 mg/DL. -- The liver produces cholesterol, therefore you want to eat foods that keep it healthy and avoid foods like white bread that contain bleached flour. -- Foods that help cholesterol: monosaturated fats & soluble fiber. -- Foods that hurt cholesterol: Whole milk, peanut butter, liver, dark chicken meat. WHY IS CHOLESTEROL IMPORTANT? Your blood cholesterol level has a lot to do with your chances of getting heart disease. High blood cholesterol is one of the major risk factors for heart disease. A risk factor is a condition that increases your chance of getting a disease. In fact, the higher your blood cholesterol level, the greater your risk for developing heart disease or having a heart attack. HOW CAN I LOWER CHOLESTEROL? Here are few tips for lowering cholesterol: -- Eat fewer fats and fried foods. Choose non-fat and low-fat versions of foods, if available. -- When eating fats, select unsaturated fats. (Unsaturated fats are liquid at room temperature -- vegetable oils, for example. Avoid tropical oils, such as palm and coconut oil.) -- Choose fish and poultry more often than red meat. -- Limit total amount of meat, fish, poultry, and low-fat cheeses to 7 ounces or less each day. -- Exercise -- If you smoke, quit. -- Lose extra weight. -- Eat more soluble fiber. Good sources are fruits, beans, peas, and oats. -- Limit egg yolks to no more than three per week. (Egg whites are fat-free.) ARE THERE GOOD AND BAD CHOLESTEROL TYPES? We've realized in the past several years that the overall cholesterol number isn't nearly as important as breaking it down into LDL and HDL because the two have such different actions. We remember it by first initials-L for lousy, H for healthy. LDL cholesterol is short for low-density lipoprotein cholesterol. Exercising, losing even 10 pounds of weight, avoiding simple carbohydrates (avoid all white foods), and restricting saturated and trans fats to less than 20 grams a day will lower your LDL. You can lower the level of LDL cholesterol in several other ways, as well. As you might guess, HDL cholesterol is short for high-density lipoprotein cholesterol. You want as high an HDL level possible-at least greater than 40. You can increase your HDL by consuming healthy fats-found in olive oil, fish, and walnuts-walking (or any physical activity) for 30 minutes a day, taking a newer natural products like Cholesterol Reduction Conplex from Shaklee, and having a drink of Red Wine on occasion. You can boost your level of HDL cholesterol in other ways, as well. Learn more about our NEW! Cholesterol Reduction Complex from Shaklee Lowers Cholesterol Naturally... CHOLESTEROL LOWERING FOODS

02:33
It's easy to eat your way to an alarmingly high cholesterol level. And the reverse is true too — changing what you eat can lower your cholesterol and improve the composition of the armada of fats floating through your bloodstream. Fresh fruits and vegetables, whole grains, and "good fats" are all part of a heart-healthy diet. But some foods are particularly good at helping bring down cholesterol. 1. Oats An easy way to start lowering cholesterol is to choose oatmeal or an oat-based cold cereal like Cheerios for breakfast. It gives you 1 to 2 grams of soluble fiber. Add a banana or some strawberries for another half-gram. 2. Beans Beans are especially rich in soluble fiber. They also take a while for the body to digest, meaning you feel full for longer after a meal. That's one reason beans are a useful food for folks trying to lose weight. With so many choices — from navy and kidney beans to lentils, garbanzos, black-eyed peas, and beyond — and so many ways to prepare them, beans are a very versatile food. 3. Nuts A bushel of studies shows that eating almonds, walnuts, peanuts, and other nuts are good for the heart. Eating 2 ounces of nuts a day can slightly lower LDL, on the order of 5%. Nuts have additional nutrients that protect the heart in other ways. 4. Foods fortified with sterols and stanols Sterols and stanols extracted from plants gum up the body's ability to absorb cholesterol from food. Companies are now adding them to a wide variety of foods. They're also available as supplements. Getting 2 grams of plant sterols or stanols a day can lower LDL cholesterol by about 10%. 5. Fatty fish Eating fish two or three times a week can lower LDL in two ways: by replacing meat, which has LDL-boosting saturated fats, and by delivering LDL-lowering omega-3 fats. Omega-3s reduce triglycerides in the bloodstream and also protect the heart by helping prevent the onset of abnormal heart rhythms. Mushrooms Alchemy

04:24
https://lostempireherbs.com/product/mushroom-alchemy-tincture/?utm_source=youtube&utm_medium=video&utm_term=youtube-fans&utm_content=mushroom-alchemy-tincture&utm_campaign=social-lead-gen Hi I'm Logan Christopher from Lost Empire Herbs and today I'm very pleased to talk about our new Mushroom Alchemy Tincture. Mushroom Alchemy is unlike anything else on the marketplace and let me tell you why. It's a blend of seven mushrooms; Reishi, Chaga, Shiitake, Maitake, Lion's Mane, Turkey Tail in artist conch. And these seven mushrooms come together synergistically. All of them are sourced from within North America. Five of the seven are wild grafted. The only cultivated ones are, Shiitake and Reishi at this time. In addition, this is what would best be termed a "Triple Extracted Mushroom Extract". It is extracted through a Soxhlet extractor, with both water and alcohol. Each of these draws out different components. So it's important to get both of them. Many products out there are just one or the other of these. Although there are dual extracted tinctures out there as well, no one is doing this third process. The Spagyric Process. The Alchemical process of drawing out the salt, which is the mineral matrix. Really you could term this as being extracted by fire because that's what it takes to get these out. It's a labor-intensive process but this adds a whole other dimension. A whole other component to this tincture. So we're very pleased with Mushroom Alchemy. Now, what is it going to do for you? The main benefit I feel, you're going to get with Mushroom Alchemy is how it's going to support your immune system. Not just your immune system but things like your DNA as well. It does this through a wide variety of different methods. The Polysaccharides are helping support the body in certain ways. Then there's Sterols and various other components of it. One way to think about this is that, inside of us you don't just have a Microbiome. That is the bacterial component. Out in the news today for over a decade now. A lot of people have been hearing of this, but many people aren't aware we actually have a Microbiome. Mycology, the fungi, in us as well. We only hear about this with bad things such as Candida or Athlete's Foot. But fungus is a part of us too. And if that fungus is some hoarded in the right sort of way, everything's gonna work better. Out there in nature, the fungi, the Mycelium. It works symbiotically with the trees the plants and everything out there. If you take soil a good quality soil, by mass 30 percent of it, is this Mycelium this fungal component. Now we're not that much but this is an important component of us. And I feel that by taking something like this. Getting these medicinal mushrooms into our body. It helps to support the intelligence that is there in that Microbiome and all across the rest of our body. It helps to support the immune system. In being more intelligent in knowing the right invaders to fight. The right invaders that are coming up from within our body and everything of that sort. So, that I would say is the main benefit you're gonna get with Mushroom Alchemy or taking most of the medicinal mushrooms in general. With this tincture if you're tuned into the subtle effects, you can notice those Shen effects. Shen, meaning the spirit. It's one of the three treasures in Chinese medicine. So you can notice a calming .But also, a it's not a calming like relax, put you to sleep but just very subtle calming effect that comes with this. I feel this tincture tastes great. The Reishi, especially has this chocolatey flavor to it. Now we're talking about medicinal mushrooms. So there's certainly bitterness to this. It's nothing like Tongkat Ali, but if you are new to the world of mushrooms and herbs, then I wouldn't say this tastes good to you. But if you are used to mushrooms, if you are used to herbs then you may find, you really do like this flavor. So just to recap, seven different mushrooms coming from North America. Triple extracted using some alchemical processes to do that. It's amazing stuff, I highly recommend you try it out. Because of all that, because of all the work and the high-quality ingredients that go into this. This is more expensive than most mushroom products on the market. Most mushroom tinctures. But once again, no one else is doing all this to bring this level of an extract to you. So I recommend, you give this a try. I personally love it. Tinctures are super easy to take on the go. To take, as you're working going about your day. Easier than the many great powders we have. So that's why I'm really excited about Mushroom Alchemy and I think you will be too.
