In June 2017 our Chairman, Damian Aspinall and his wife, Victoria, made a special trip to our project in Gabon to oversee the transfer of a young gorilla group from the sanctuary where they met, to our Gorilla Protection Project in the Batéké Plateau National Park. During their trip, Damian and Victoria met up with Djalta and Ima; two male gorillas from Howletts Wild Animal Park in Kent, who made the journey back to the wild in 2003. Harpy Eagle Training

03:38
I am mostly known for my work with parrots, however I did get my start many years ago working in zoos. I do still consult with zoos on animal training and thought I would share some awesome training done when I was consulting at the Dallas Zoo. This training actually won the 2010 Behavior of the Year: Husbandry Award from the Interantional Association of Avian Trainers and Educators (www.iaate.org) Congrats to the trainers and the Dallas Zoo! Below is the abstract I wrote for the presentation on this training. It helps tell the back story on this video. The Dallas Zoo is home to 0.1 Harpy Eagles (Harpia harpyja). The mature female hatched in 2002 has been on exhibit since 2004. In September 2007 Keepers initiated a training program to facilitate optimal care of this individual. Initial training included the use of targets to teach hands off behaviors such as moving from point A to point B, shifting into a holding area, stepping onto a scale and flying from perch to perch on cue. Eventually keepers were able to work in the enclosure with the eagle and incorporated these behaviors into educational presentations. As the bird continued to progress, it was decided to train behaviors that would allow the eagle to make appearances outside of the enclosure. This included teaching the bird to wear falconry equipment and sit comfortably on a glove in public areas. Because of the birds role as an exhibit bird it was important to the facility that equipment could be removed completely for when the bird was on display. This challenged keepers to train the eagle to allow daily manipulation of feet, extensive touching to the tarsus while anklets and jesses were attached and removed, and learning to step onto a glove voluntarily. By adhering to a strictly positive reinforcement based training approach staff members were able to successfully achieve their goals and more. This paper will share the triumphs and challenges of using positive reinforcement to train one of the largest and most powerful species of eagles in the world. We Went to Rescue Newborn Puppies But Never Expected This | Howl Of A Dog Rescue

10:11
Howl Of A Dog Rescue was contacted to save newborn orphan puppies found abandoned on side of a country road. Baby animals crying, apparently in distress, coming from the tall grass on side of a country road were heard by a local who alerted Howl Of A Dog. At first, we thought that maybe some wild animal or stray dog or cat had given birth there. We didn't expect to find newly born puppies abandoned in such a cruel way. It turned out to be one of the most heartbreaking cases of animal cruelty we have dealt with: there were several puppies dumped in a bag and simply left there to die. It was a rainy and very chilly autumn morning and their bodies were so cold that it was a miracle their little hearts were still beating Two of the puppies were out, near the bag, we placed them safe aside and hurried to check the content of the bag and take out the ones that were still inside. The puppies were newly born and still had their umbilical cords attached. We inspected the area carefully to make sure there were no other puppies, and found another one trapped in the grass. Sadly, things have taken an even more tragic turn. Four of the rescued puppies passed away shortly after we arrived at the center. But the three surviving puppies - Lizzie, Taz and Bernie - have made an amazing recovery, growing into healthy playful pups. They are 5 months old, fully vaccinated and microchipped. They need now their own loving homes, if you’d like to make any of them a part of your family, please visit www.HowlOfADog.org or send us an email on contact@howlofadog.org . The puppies are in our care in Romania, but for anyone abroad who would like to adopt them please note that we also facilitate international adoptions (www.howlofadog.org/adoption-procedure/). Thank you! Update: one of the puppies, Bernie, was adopted, here is him at his forever home: https://youtu.be/e4AgmrJFzFM Abandon is animal cruelty! Don’t throw life away. Spay & Neuter your pets. Manatees on the move

01:39
Powell, OH -- Manatees at the Columbus Zoo and Aquarium are on the move again as part of the Zoo's participation in the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service's Manatee Rescue and Rehabilitation Program. Fifteen-year-old Holly and two-year-olds Fraulein and Bartlett were transported back to Florida on November 2, 2010 and Bernice, who is less than a year old, was brought to central Ohio on the return flight the next day. Holly has been at the Columbus Zoo since October 2005. She spent most of her life at the Homosassa Springs Wildlife State Park after being rescued as an orphan on December 27, 1995. Holly was part of a critical study of the papilloma virus which was found to affect manatees both in the wild and in human care. Holly will be cared for at SeaWorld Orlando until she is released in Florida waters in early 2011. Bartlett and Fraulein (as well as two other young manatees that remain at the Zoo) came to the Columbus Zoo and Aquarium on April 6, 2010 for rehabilitation from cold-stress syndrome that occurred due to prolonged, record low temperatures in Florida last winter. Believed to be just one-and-a-half years of age when they were rescued, female Fraulein weighed 395 pounds and male Bartlett was 510 pounds. After their care at the Columbus Zoo they have grown to 600 pounds and 700 pounds respectively. Fraulein was transported to Homosassa Springs Wildlife State Park and Bartlett to Tampa's Lowry Park Zoo where they will stay until they are also released early next year. Holly, Bartlett and Fraulein will be fitted with transmitters in order to continue monitoring their health and well-being after their release. Their movements will be tracked as part of the Columbus Zoo's participation in the Manatee Rehabilitation Partnership and can be followed online at www.wildtracks.org. Bernice was an orphan heading precariously out to sea when she was rescued on January 5, 2010 at Sebastian Inlet on the east coast of Florida. Probably less than a year old and suffering from cold stress she was just 280 pounds and about five-and-a-half feet in length. Due to the quality care she has received at SeaWorld Orlando she is now about 400 pounds and measures a foot longer. After spending a few days in an observation pool, Bernice joined two-year-olds Hamilton and Tippecanoe, both males, and 15-year-old female Stubby in Manatee Coast. Moving manatees is always a well-orchestrated event and these transports involved even more players. In addition to the four manatees coming and going to and from the Columbus Zoo and Aquarium, the Cincinnati Zoo & Botanical Garden returned two manatees to Florida and received three new manatees; two from Miami Seaquarium and one from Homosassa Springs. Moving these nine manatees involved six animal care facilities, cargo planes leaving to and from Rickenbacker International Airport, specialized containers and equipment, and a team of animal care and logistical experts. The Columbus Zoo and Aquarium supports field conservation projects for three of four living species of manatees through its Conservation Fund. Providing grants to researchers on three continents (North America, South America and Africa), the Zoo contributes to rescue and rehabilitation in Florida, environmental education focused on the Amazonian manatee in Colombia, and critical population surveys for the least known species -- the West African manatee. The Columbus Zoo and Aquarium was the first program partner outside of the state of Florida and one of only two outside of Florida to care for manatees. More information about the program is available from the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission (www.myfwc.com/manatee). ### Columbus Zoo and Aquarium is open 363 days of the year. General admission is $12.99 for adults, $7.99 for children ages 2 to 9 and seniors 60+. Children under 2 and Columbus Zoo members are free. The Zoo was named the #1 Zoo in America by USA Travel Guide and is accredited by the Association of Zoos and Aquariums (AZA.) Break Dancing Gorilla at the Calgary Zoo

00:40
The video shows Zola having pure fun with an enrichment opportunity during Spotlight on Gorillas and is not a trained behavior; the music was added afterward. Zola, nine-years old, is one of eight Western lowland gorillas currently living at the Calgary Zoo as part of the Association of Zoos and Aquariums Gorilla Species Survival Plan. He loves to play in water and keepers regularly give him the opportunity to do so as part of the enrichment activities they plan and vary on a daily basis.

The dog and the extant gray wolf are sister taxa as modern wolves are not closely related to the wolves that were first domesticated, which implies that the direct ancestor of the dog is extinct. The dog was the first species to be domesticated and has been selectively bred over millennia for various behaviors, sensory capabilities, and physical attributes. Their long association with humans has led dogs to be uniquely attuned to human behavior and they are able to thrive on a starch-rich diet that would be inadequate for other canid species. New research seems to show that dogs have mutations to equivalent genetic regions in humans where changes are known to trigger high sociability and somewhat reduced intelligence. Dogs vary widely in shape, size and colors. Dogs perform many roles for people, such as hunting, herding, pulling loads, protection, assisting police and military, companionship and, more recently, aiding handicapped individuals and therapeutic roles. This influence on human society has given them the sobriquet "man's best friend".

North Carolina Zoo - Radiated Tortoise Rescue in Madagascar

01:59
North Carolina Zoo Staff Katie Hagen, Bruce Moffitt, and N.C. State University Vet Resident Kate Archibald traveled to Madagascar where they assisted the Turtle Survival Alliance with the relief efforts for the 10,000 critically endangered radiated tortoises that were seized from wildlife traffickers in April. The radiated tortoise is only found on the island of Madagascar and its population is declining because of several factors including habitat loss and the exotic pet trade. Radiated tortoises are among the high-priority species in the Association of Zoo and Aquariums’ {tag} SAFE (Saving Animals From Extinction) Program. The North Carolina Zoo is proud to have been a part of this global relief effort, knowing that Katie, Bruce, and Kate’s work will provide a better future for the tortoises in Madagascar. Watch to learn more about their trip.

Sequoia Park Zoo: A Gem in the Redwoods

07:29
For tips on how to create videos like this one: http://www.groovyvideos.com/ Sequoia Park Zoo is located in the seaport town of Eureka, California, along the Pacific northwest coast. Set amid a mature coastal redwoods forest, this little gem of a zoo is a much beloved part of Humboldt County and the Lost Coast California region. While it may be small in size (about 7 acres), the Sequoia Park Zoo is big on physical beauty, animal care, conservation activities and education. Founded in 1907, the zoo is the oldest in California and is accredited by the Association of Zoos and Aquariums (AZA). While at Sequoia Park Zoo, stroll through the beautifully maintained grounds and discover over 250 animals representing 75 species in a variety of exhibits. Some of the animals you'll find include: Chilean flamingos, crested screamers, Patagonian cavies, donkeys, a yak, cottontop tamarin, spider monkeys, gibbons, scarlet Ibis, Alpacas, red pandas, and an aviary with local and exotic birds. There's also a collection of barnyard animals and a petting corral. The Sequoia Park Zoo is mostly level and easily maneuverable for families using strollers or the handicapped. Benches abound for quick breaks during your zoo tour. "Secrets of the Forest" is an indoor, interactive exhibit that displays the forest habitats of some of our native species. It also shows the delicate balance between man's activities and the impact on Humboldt County's animal life, streams, rivers and bay. A visit to the Sequoia Park Zoo is the perfect half-day excursion. I suggest you start off your visit in the morning when the animals are most active and have lunch at the zoo cafe where you'll find menu options including beef and garden burgers, chili, garlic fries, wraps, sandwiches, salads, desserts, plus an espresso bar. Eat in the indoor dining area or go outside to the picnic tables where you can take in the sights and sounds (those crested screamers really DO scream!) while enjoying your meal. Then cap off your visit by exploring the adjacent redwood forest and park, which includes a duck pond, playground equipment for the kids and 60 acres of towering coastal redwoods with easily accessible paths suitable for most ages and activity levels. For Sequoia Park Zoo information, hours and days of operation, visit: http://www.sequoiaparkzoo.net/index.html Video Tips and How I Created this Video: I filmed this video concentrating on short shots. I spent about 2 hours at the Sequoia Park Zoo on a sunny morning in April 2013. Using my Canon VIXIA HFR300, I filmed 125 short shots ranging anywhere from 10 seconds to 90 seconds of footage each. Once home, I took those 125 short shots and selected the 64 shots I liked the best. I edited these using Cyberlink Power Director 10 editing software on my Toshiba Satellite L775 laptop. I ended up with 64 clips ranging in length from the shortest segment of 2 seconds to the longest segment of 22 seconds. The power of a "short shot" video is that it gives your video momentum and is effective in telling your video's story without boring your audience. People are used to (and expect) videos with short clips even if they don't realize that's what they're viewing. Count the number of shots the next time you watch commercials and you'll be amazed at how many the pros can fit into your average 30-second spot. Try using the "short shots" in your next video and see for yourself the power of this technique! Chicago Lincoln Park Zoo, A Free Zoo in Chicago, I Cruise The East Side of Chicago One Sunday!

06:19
Reduced Air B n B stay if you sign up under my link; www.airbnb.com/c/bjd131 Lincoln Park Zoo is a 35-acre (14 ha) zoo located in Lincoln Park in Chicago, Illinois. The zoo was founded in 1868, making it among the oldest of zoos in North America. It is also one of a few free admission zoos in the United States.[ The zoo is an accredited member of the Association of Zoos and Aquariums (AZA). Lincoln Park Zoo is home to a wide variety of animals. The zoo's exhibits include big cats, polar bears, penguins, gorillas, reptiles, monkeys, and other species totalling about 1,100 animals from some 200 species. Also located in Lincoln Park Zoo is a burr oak tree which dates to 1830, three years before the city was founded. The zoo was founded in 1868, when the Lincoln Park Commissioners were given a gift of two pairs[ of swans by Central Park's Board of Commissioners in New York City Other animals were soon donated to the park, including, a puma, two elk, three wolves, four eagles, and eight peacock.[ In 1874, a bear cub from the Philadelphia Zoo was the first animal purchased by the zoo. The bear became quite adept at escaping from its home and could frequently be found roaming Lincoln Park at night. ] In 1884, reportedly the first American bison born in captivity was born at the Lincoln Park Zoo.[ At this time, the species had almost been hunted to extinction in the wild -- in 1896, the United States government purchased one bull and seven cows from the Zoo's bison herd to send to Yellowstone National Park to assist in the species' revival. From 1888 to 1919 the director of the Lincoln Park Zoo was the flamboyant Cy DeVry, who organized the collection, built many new structures, and obtained the zoo's first elephant and monkeys. A new Lion House opened in 1912. It was later renovated and reopened in 1990. The Primate House opened in 1927, and was known for housing a popular gorilla named Bushman (1931–1951), one of the only gorillas in a U. S. zoo at the time.[ The zoo's great apes were moved to the Lester E. Fisher Great Ape House in 1976, named for the zoo's outgoing director, and the original Primate House was later renovated and reopened in 1992 as the Helen Brach Primate House, featuring more naturalistic settings. Marlin Perkins, who gained fame as the host of the television program Zoo Parade and later, Wild Kingdom, was director of the zoo from 1944 until 1962. He created and recruited a citizens group to support the Zoo's mission, the Lincoln Park Zoological Society. The facility underwent a dramatic transformation in the 1970s and 1980s, with the additions of many new, naturalistic exhibits. In 1995, the Zoological Society assumed management of the zoo from the Chicago Park District, which remains the owner.[ Zoo administration is currently housed in the nearby building previously used by the Chicago Academy of Sciences, which moved to a new facility in 1999. The Kovler Sea Lion Pool opened the same year after an extensive renovation, and is now home to the zoo's harbor seals.[ Regenstein African Journey, a renovation of the zoo's former Large Mammal House, opened in 2003, turning the zoo's largest building from concrete showcases for a few large mammals into a series of naturalistic settings that tell the story of the wildlife of the African continent, welcoming the return of the zoo's African elephants and giraffes as well as new additions such as the aardvark, ostrich, and African wild dog.[ Two years later, the zoo renovated its Great Ape House, opening the Regenstein Center for African Apes, which focused on the zoo's troops of common chimpanzees and western lowland gorillas, putting a special emphasis on researching the behaviors of both species and creating new, naturalistic habitats.[ In 2010, Lincoln Park Zoo transformed the adjacent South Pond to create the Nature Boardwalk, an ecological habitat designed by Studio Gang Architects that features native plants and wildlife.[ In December 2011, the Kovler Penguin-Seabird House, which had previously been home to rockhopper, king penguins, common murres and puffins closed down after thirty years at the zoo due to worries about the deteriorating condition of the building, prompting outcry from some Chicago residents.[ It was soon announced it would be replaced with a newly renovated West Gate, featuring a children's train and an all-new exhibit, Regenstein Macaque Forest, featuring Japanese macaques, or "snow monkeys", in a state-of-the-art exhibit with a hot spring, set to open in fall 2014.[ It was announced in March 2014 that the zoo's Robert R. McCormick Bear Habitat, or "Bear Line", would be torn down and rebuilt with a large and significantly improved habitat for the zoo's lone polar bear, with much more land area for the bears and a behind-the-scenes den for breeding.

Cranes, Planes and Automobiles -- Manatee Move 2010

03:41
In the first three months of 2010, Florida experienced prolonged, record low temperatures that resulted in the death of nearly 450 manatees. (For perspective, in all of 2009, 429 manatees died.) More than 50 manatees were rescued -- some were orphaned youngsters -- all suffering from stress due to exposure to the cold. Even though an average manatee can weigh more than 1,000 pounds, they have very little body fat to keep them warm and it is difficult for a manatee to survive in water when the temperature is below 68 degrees. In cold water the manatee's metabolism slows leading to digestion problems, decreased appetite, and associated weight loss which weakens their immune systems and makes them vulnerable to infections and illnesses. With so many manatees needing help, the facilities in Florida quickly reached their capacity and the Columbus Zoo and Aquarium, as one of only two facilities outside of Florida to care for manatees, was asked to take in four young manatees for rehabilitation. And, of course, the Zoo said yes. And that began the young manatees' (Bartlett, Hamilton, Fraulein, and Tippecanoe) adventure -- moving from Florida up to Columbus, Ohio. So what does it take to move manatees across several states? It takes planes, trucks, crates, water, and a lot of effort from a team of people -- from both Ohio and Florida -- dedicated to saving these amazing aquatic animals. The best part? When these four youngsters have fully recovered, they will be released back into the wild, which means they get to repeat this journey all over again before heading back to the slow moving waters of their coastal Florida rivers and estuaries. The Columbus Zoo and Aquarium supports field conservation projects for three of the four living species of manatees through our Conservation Fund. Providing grants to researchers on three continents (North America, South America, and Africa), the Zoo contributes to rescue and rehabilitation in Florida, environmental education focused on the Amazonian manatee in Colombia, and critical population surveys for the least known species—the West African manatee. More information about the program is available from the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission (www.myfwc.com/manatee) or Manatee Rehabilitation Partnership (www.wildtracks.org). The Columbus Zoo and Aquarium is open 363 days of the year 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. until Memorial Day weekend and 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. from Memorial Day weekend through Labor Day. General admission is $12.99 for adults, $7.99 for children ages 2 to 9 and seniors 60+. Children under 2 and Columbus Zoo members are free. The Zoo was named the #1 Zoo in America by USA Travel Guide and is accredited by the Association of Zoos and Aquariums (AZA.) For more information and to purchase advance Zoo admission tickets, visit www.columbuszoo.org.
Giraffe, Giraffe, Giraffe! - Abilene Zoo reveals good news

01:20
After celebrating the birth of a healthy male in September, the zoo is excited to announce that three giraffe expect calves this fall. Check our herd on: http://abilenezoo.org/animals-exhibit “We’re thrilled to have a breeding group of giraffe and contribute to the sustainability of this threatened species,” said Executive Director Bill Gersonde. “We’ve got our hands full pampering three pregnant cows, but the staff has been diligent. They’re up to the task.” http://abilenezoo.org/zoo-news/ The matriarch of the herd, 19-year-old Asha, appears to be the farthest along in the 15-month gestation period and may give birth as early as September. This is a second pregnancy for Asha, who calved in 2002. First-time moms Sunny and Jamie appear to be due sometime during the fall or winter, possibly early next year. All three females are reticulated giraffe, while the 12-year-old father, Mesi, is a Rothschild giraffe bull. Jamie is recommended as a good genetic match by the Association of Zoos and Aquariums’ Species Survival Plans. Giraffe do not have a breeding “season,” and can give birth any time of year. One of the goals of the new Giraffe Safari area was to improve the animals’ living space and allow for a cooperative breeding program through the Association of Zoos and Aquariums Species Survival Plans for threatened and endangered animals. The first youngster born in that new home was Mananasi, a male born Sept. 10, 2016, to first-time mom, Punk, a longtime member of the Abilene herd. About the Abilene Zoo: Since its founding in 1966, the Abilene Zoo has stood as a place of learning and adventure, where visitors make memories, share the joy of discovery and become inspired to preserve wildlife. Situated on 16 acres in the award-winning Grover Nelson Park, the zoo has more than 1000 animals of 270 species from around the globe. The zoo is open 7 days a week (closed Thanksgiving Day, Christmas Day, and New Year’s Day) from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Last admittance is 4 p.m. Tickets are $7 for adults, $4.50 for children ages 3-12, $6 for seniors aged 60 and older. Members are admitted free. www.abilenezoo.org. 325-676-6085. I created this video with the YouTube Video Editor (http://www.youtube.com/editor)

Respect Life Boycott zoos!

01:23
Share if you agree animals deserve to be free from exploitation! Respect Life is a campaign that will take place over the next months, culminating in an event on the 26 September 2015. Currently, there are over than 30 countries and organizations participating. The purpose of this event/campaign is to promote the ethos of the 269 movement – which is to bring animal liberation to the forefront of human consciousness and commit to do our part in bringing an end to the animal holocaust. We also wish to raise awareness about veganism, and all its benefits. The event may be any form of demonstration, protest, rally, branding event, direct action, performance art, etc – As long as it conveys the message: Respect Life. You may even have a Vegan Day after the actual protest/event to promote veganism and to further educate about the plight of all non-human animals. The Respect Life Campaign represents ALL non-human animals enslaved and exploited by humans. This covers all industries where animals are used for profit. We encourage all 269 groups, around the world to reach out to their local animal liberation groups and stand together as one voice on this day. We aim to stand in solidarity with activists from around the globe to speak up for the abused and the exploited. Should you wish to take part in the promotion of the event, we will supply artwork for your country. The artwork would be for online display as well as print media (should you wish to print banners, posters, flyers, etc). We would like to promote the actual event on the 26.09.2015 by all means possible, i.e. social media, radio, print media, flyers, etc.. to rally as much support and exposure as possible. The Vegan day with stalls of vegan food and products could be a great attraction for those interested in veganism. You could also have a screening or footage to further educate people on the plight of animals used for profit. For inspiration and ideas, please feel free to watch our past events:-http://www.youtube.com/user/269lifecom Please provide your event details and link so that we can publish and promote on this page. SEND US THE FOOTAGE AND PICS (AS WELL AS A SHORT DESCRIPTION OF HOW IT WENT) AS SOON AS POSSIBLE AFTERWARDS TO : 269PIC@GMAIL.COM ** IF YOU WANT TO TAKE A PART IN THE EVENT PLEASE MESSAGE 269Life South Africa OR 269life ** We will supply a list of event pages taking place in different countries around the globe when they are created. Participating countries: http://goo.gl/arW4SR Video and Music production by RE Music & Design - https://remusicanddesign.wordpress.com/ Who is "269?" “269” is a calf who was born into an Israeli dairy farm. His life was saved, near his scheduled slaughter day. On October 2nd of 2012, 'World Farm Animals day', at Rabin Square in central Tel-Aviv, 269Life activists performed an act of solidarity and empathy towards abused animals exploited by the human race. The display's aim is to call for empathy towards the most oppressed sector of our society and call into question the deep disconnect we as a society, have towards sanctioned animal cruelty. The activists got branded with a hot steel brand, in the same way farm animals are branded in farms all over the world. The number 269, which was burned on their skin, was the designated number of a calf they have encountered in one of Israel's dairy farms. "This anonymous male calf will be forever immortalized on our bodies, and hopefully this message of solidarity will somehow bring a new way of looking at non-human animals. No animal should be exploited to satisfy the selfish needs and whimsical desires of humans, and that is why we chose to use the industry's own method of objectifying living beings as this symbolic means to convey our idea". Annually, more than 150 billion animals are murdered worldwide due to people's selfishness, ignorance and greed. This madness must stop and will stop the day humankind finally wakes up and understands that even the nameless feel pain and desire freedom no less than us humans.

A depressed guinea pig, on the other hand, will become very listless and not display much energy. If you catch your guinea pig vibrating or trembling, this signifies a good thing. Guinea pigs frequently convey their cheerful moods through giving off deep vibrating noises. Pet Tunes Guinea Pig music is sure to make them vibrate with happiness, and help you to bond with your Guinea Pig as their anxiety disappears. Rat Songs Playlist: https://goo.gl/6BVtRl Pet Tunes Rat music will help rats of any age become domesticated and stop any fear relating to human interaction. Domestic rats are born tame, but they still need to be socialized to bond to humans. Rats who were not properly socialized as babies will often exhibit fear toward humans. But even these rats can be quickly rehabilitated using a method called Trust Training, and this training paired with Pet tunes music will iron out any issues in no time. Cat Songs Playlist: https://goo.gl/pHJQVZ Pet Tunes cat music will help to calm and soothe your cat or kitten in a variety of situations. All of the music is recorded on traditional instruments and the human voice. Chinchilla Songs Playlist: https://goo.gl/X76mIQ Our Chinchilla music will help during the training and handling process for your Chinchilla to bond with you and become the perfect household pet. It’s important to introduce them to handling very gradually and gently, and in association with positive experiences so that they never feel threatened. It’s best to do this in the evening when chinchillas are naturally awake, and to help the process play Pet Tunes Chinchilla music. Hamster Songs: https://goo.gl/Kyot9r There are several different breeds and varieties of hamster, varying in size and temperament. Hamsters are nocturnal so they spend most of the day sleeping and become active in the evening and at night. If you need to calm down your hamster during the evening this music is perfect, if your hamster is poorly or injured it will help to soothe them by bringing down their heart rate and blood pressure. Do You Really Qualify for Divorce? | Michelle Rozen | TEDxNSU

11:07
Divorce is an epidemic and it may be contagious. Too often couples don’t take the time necessary to determine if divorce is the right option. But there is a research-based approach that offers couples the time, insight, and tools to empower them to better assess their unique situations based on a series of applicable questions. For mediators, guiding couples through a constructive evaluation of their relationship for a period of six months can offer them the time needed to make an educated decision and potentially avoid divorce. An NSU alumna, Michelle Rozen, Ph.D., researches, teaches, and practices mediation and conflict resolution through her divorce and family mediation services organization based in New York and New Jersey. She specializes in conflict management and proactive and productive communications. Rozen is also the author of The Effective Mediation and a writer for the Huffington Post. She helps divorcing couples remedy their unique and varied situations and works with corporations of various types and sizes. Rozen’s mission is to help individuals, teams, and organizations diffuse conflicts and encourage conversation, strengthen team dynamics, and inspire superior performance. Her goal is to help clients discover the underlying potential for growth in every conflict-oriented situation, adapt, and make changes accordingly. Rozen holds a Ph.D. in Conflict Analysis and Resolution and an M.S. in Family Therapy, both from Nova Southeastern University. This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at http://ted.com/tedx

The Honolulu Zoo lost its accreditation after the Association of Zoos and Aquariums determined that the zoo receives inadequate funding from the City and community partners, and suffers from inconsistent leadership and political wrangling. City leaders vow to turn things around. The question is: How? On INSIGHTS ON PBS HAWAII, we’ll examine with Zoo Director Baird Fleming and other animal advocates with differing perspectives.

Kolkata is the capital of the Indian state of West Bengal. Located on the east bank of the Hooghly River, it is the principal commercial, cultural, and educational centre of East India, while the Port of Kolkata is India's oldest operating port and its sole major riverine port. In 2011, the city had a population of 4.5 million, while the population of the city and its suburbs was 14.1 million, making it the third-most populous metropolitan area in India. Recent estimates of Kolkata Metropolitan Area's economy have ranged from $60 to $150 billion (GDP adjusted for purchasing power parity) making it third most-productive metropolitan area in India, after Mumbai and Delhi.[11][12][13] Kolkata /koʊlˈkɑːtə/ (Bengali pronunciation: [kolkat̪a]) was formerly known as Calcutta /kælˈkʌtə/, the official name until 2001. In the late 17th century, the three villages that predated Calcutta were ruled by the Nawab of Bengal under Mughal suzerainty. After the Nawab granted the East India Company a trading licence in 1690,[15] the area was developed by the Company into an increasingly fortified trading post. Nawab Siraj ud-Daulah occupied Calcutta in 1756, and the East India Company retook it the following year. In 1793 the East India company was strong enough to abolish Nizamat (local rule), and assumed full sovereignty of the region. Under the company rule, and later under the British Raj, Calcutta served as the capital of British-held territories in India until 1911, when its perceived geographical disadvantages, combined with growing nationalism in Bengal, led to a shift of the capital to New Delhi. Calcutta was the centre for the Indian independence movement; it remains a hotbed of contemporary state politics. Following Indian independence in 1947, Kolkata, which was once the centre of modern Indian education, science, culture, and politics, suffered several decades of economic stagnation. As a nucleus of the 19th- and early 20th-century Bengal Renaissance and a religiously and ethnically diverse centre of culture in Bengal and India, Kolkata has local traditions in drama, art, film, theatre, and literature. Many people from Kolkata—among them several Nobel laureates—have contributed to the arts, the sciences, and other areas. Kolkata culture features idiosyncrasies that include distinctively close-knit neighbourhoods (paras) and freestyle intellectual exchanges (adda). West Bengal's share of the Bengali film industry is based in the city, which also hosts venerable cultural institutions of national importance, such as the Academy of Fine Arts, the Victoria Memorial, the Asiatic Society, the Indian Museum and the National Library of India. Among professional scientific institutions, Kolkata hosts the Agri Horticultural Society of India, the Geological Survey of India, the Botanical Survey of India, the Calcutta Mathematical Society, the Indian Science Congress Association, the Zoological Survey of India, the Institution of Engineers, the Anthropological Survey of India and the Indian Public Health Association. Though home to major cricketing venues and franchises, Kolkata differs from other Indian cities by giving importance to association football and other sports. The discovery and archaeological study of Chandraketugarh, 35 kilometres (22 mi) north of Kolkata, provide evidence that the region in which the city stands has been inhabited for over two millennia.[21][22] Kolkata's recorded history began in 1690 with the arrival of the English East India Company, which was consolidating its trade business in Bengal. Job Charnock, an administrator who worked for the company, was formerly credited as the founder of the city;[23] In response to a public petition,[24] the Calcutta High Court ruled in 2003 that the city does not have a founder.[25] The area occupied by the present-day city encompassed three villages: Kalikata, Gobindapur, and Sutanuti.
