Angry Racists Flip Out After 'Cheddar Man' Revealed To Be Black

Help us cover the political revolution: http://www.patreon.com/TYTNation "The first modern Britons, who lived about 10,000 years ago, had “dark to black” skin, a groundbreaking DNA analysis of Britain’s oldest complete skeleton has revealed. The fossil, known as Cheddar Man, was unearthed more than a century ago in Gough’s Cave in Somerset. Intense speculation has built up around Cheddar Man’s origins and appearance because he lived shortly after the first settlers crossed from continental Europe to Britain at the end of the last ice age. People of white British ancestry alive today are descendants of this population. It was initially assumed that Cheddar Man had pale skin and fair hair, but his DNA paints a different picture, strongly suggesting he had blue eyes, a very dark brown to black complexion and dark curly hair." https://www.theguardian.com/science/2018/feb/07/first-modern-britons-dark-black-skin-cheddar-man-dna-analysis-reveals?CMP=twt_a-science_b-gdnscience Shop at Amazon & support TYT Nation! http://ow.ly/LAKHU Like Our Facebook Page! http://www.Facebook.com/TYTNation Subscribe to our Network Partner: The Young Turks. http://www.youtube.com/theyoungturks http://www.tytnetwork.com

His Father and Mother were Indians. Freddie admitted to having a string of gay one night stands, and that time due to unprotected sex and lack of awareness, gay couples contracted HIV quite frequently, to the extent that it was considered an epidemic. He was not the only one, though probably his death affected the most. His friend Kenny Everett, the DJ who first played Bohemian Rhapsody and prophesied that it will be number one for centuries, also lost the battle against Aids. Early Life:Mercury was born Farrokh Bulsara (Gujarati: ફારોખ બલસારા, Pharōkh Balsārā‌) in Stone Town in the British protectorate of the Zanzibar (now part of Tanzania) on 5 September 1946.[9][10] His parents, Bomi (1908–2003) and Jer Bulsara (1922–2016),[a][11] were Parsis from the Gujarat region of the then-province of Bombay Presidency in British India.[b][12] As Parsis, Mercury and his family practised the Zoroastrian religion.[13] The Bulsara family had moved to Zanzibar so that his father could continue his job as a cashier at the British Colonial Office. He had a younger sister, Kashmira.[14] Mercury spent most of his childhood in India and began taking piano lessons at the age of seven.[15] In 1954, at the age of eight, Mercury was sent to study at St. Peter's School, a British-style boarding school for boys, in Panchgani near Bombay (now Mumbai).[16] At the age of 12, he formed a school band, The Hectics, and covered rock and roll artists such as Cliff Richard and Little Richard.[17][18] It has been said that one of his formative musical influences at the time was Bollywood singer Lata Mangeshkar,[19] but one of Mercury's former bandmates from the Hectics has said that "that is a lot of rubbish. The only music he listened to, and played, was Western pop music."[20] A friend from the time recalls that he had "an uncanny ability to listen to the radio and replay what he heard on piano".[21] It was also at St. Peter's where he began to call himself "Freddie", and in February 1963 he moved back to Zanzibar where he joined his parents at their flat.[22] Source: Wikipedia for more of freddie's life-https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Freddie_Mercury Thanks for Watching! He was musically inclined from a very young age, and according to acquaintances, he had the ability to listen to any song and play the tune on the piano. After singing for a few short-lived bands, he formed his own music group called 'Queen', along with musicians Brian May and Roger Taylor. This incredible singer was famous for his live concerts, having performed in over 700 such shows. His performances were marked by his flamboyant personality on stage and his vocal range. Since he was the first celebrity rock artiste to have succumbed to AIDS, several organizations, including 'The Mercury Phoenix Trust', founded by 'Queen' band members, have organized concerts to raise funds for research in the field ----------------------- Childhood & Early Life Freddie Mercury was born Farrokh Bulsara, to Parsi parents, Bomi and Jer Bulsara, on September 5, 1946, in the British territory of the Sultanate of Zanzibar, a part of present day Tanzania. He was educated at the 'St. Peter's School' in Panchgani, near Mumbai, beginning 1954. Having always loved music, one of his earliest idols was Indian singer, Lata Mangeshkar. While in school, Farrokh began referring to himself as Freddie, and in 1958, he formed a music group, 'The Hectics'. The band performed rock and roll songs sung by artistes Little Richard and Cliff Richard. In 1963, Farrokh went back to his hometown, to live with his parents, but soon, the family had to escape from there, after the commencement of the 'Zanzibar Revolution', meant to depose the Arab Sultan. They settled down in town of Feltham, England, living in a small house. Freddie began pursuing a course in art from West London's 'Isleworth Polytechnic', which is presently known as 'West Thames College'. He graduated with a diploma in Art and Graphic Designing from the 'Ealing Art College'. Once he graduated, he earned his living by selling old clothes in London's 'Kensington Market', working at the 'Heathrow Airport'. He also performed for various music bands, like 'Ibex', and 'Sour Milk Sea'. Celebrating 4/20 with London's Weed Fanatics

Watch the first episode of SMOKEABLES: How to Make a Gravity Bong - http://bit.ly/28XSWBi All across the world, governments are rethinking their attitudes towards the criminalisation of cannabis. Yet in Britain, fusty politicians terrified by that video of Jon Snow losing his mind on super-skunk are refusing to free the weed, uncurb the herb or liberate the oregano dream pipe. We went along to Hyde Park to join London's most ardent weed advocates for the annual 4/20 celebrations, which this year doubled as a protest rally for those who want cannabis to be legalised. We caught up with Big Narstie, watched the police make an array of arrests, talked to some of the activist-stoners and found out why you should always smoke through an Eric Cartman bong. Harry and Meghan’s £1bn wedding gift to Britain: Party weekend to celebrate their marriage

30:32
Harry and Meghan’s £1bn wedding gift to Britain: Party weekend to celebrate their marriage (and the FA Cup Final) ‘will be massive boost to the economy’ Meghan Markle and Prince Harry will marry on May 19 at Windsor Castle's famous St George's chapel, it was revealed today. The couple have chosen to ignore royal tradition and walk down the aisle on a Saturday so more people in the UK and across the globe can watch on TV or even come to Berkshire on their wedding day. A royal aide told MailOnline: 'They remain hugely grateful for the messages of support they have received from people all over the world'. But football fans are bemused because they will wed on FA Cup Final day even though Harry's best man Prince William is FA President and usually presents its famous trophy to the winners at Wembley. It could also lead to a TV coverage clash of the first major royal wedding since 2011 and the biggest football match of the year in Britain. The date also means Harry and his fiancee will not to marry on either the early May or late May bank holidays as wished for by some working Britons. And May 19 ensures that the wedding will not overshadow the birth of the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge's third child in April and allow Kate the time to recover. Royal sources insisted last night the events would not overlap, which suggests the wedding could take place in the morning, with the Cup Final in the late afternoon. A royal aide said the couple opted for a weekend wedding because they wanted as many members of the public to be involved as possible, whether by watching it on television or attending in person at Windsor.

'The British Chinese'

- "Are you a British or Chinese?" - "Erm..." I interviewed students at The Glasgow Chinese School, based in Stow College in Glasgow's Chinatown. I was interested in exploring how the children perceived themselves and dealt with issues of identity and belonging. Many of the children are from racially mixed marriages, while others are second or third generation Chinese raised in Glasgow, dealing with a duality of a distinct Chinese and Scottish cultural backgrounds. I developed this exploration through a short film called 'The British Chinese' that addresses these issues.

UK: QUEEN MOTHER CELEBRATES HER 99TH BIRTHDAY [V]

01:22
(4 Aug 1999) English/Nat Britain's Queen Mother celebrated her 99th birthday in front of crowds of cheering well wishers in London. About five-thousand people gathered outside her official residence, Clarence House, on Wednesday to see the royal whose life spans the century. Many had waited since early in the morning. VOICE-OVER: 00:02 Britain's Queen Mother, more fondly referred to as the 'Queen Mum,' emerged from her home at London's Clarence House on Wednesday for birthday wishes from the public. Thousands of well-wishers came to wish the Queen Mother well in marking her 99th birthday, making her as old as the century itself. 00:18 To mark the royal occasion, the band of the Welsh Guards marched past playing the birthday song for the royal family's reigning matriarch. The crowd, many of whom had waited for hours at the gates, gave warm cheers to honour one of the Windsor family's most popular royals. The Queen Mother stood firmly, declining the offer to sit down for the ceremony and aided only by her silver-handled cane. 00:41 She was presented with scores of birthday cards and bouquets from the crowd. Nearly five-thousand admirers came, both Britons and curious tourists always eager to catch a rare glimpse of a member of the British royal family. 00:56 Then the Queen Mother made a sprightly walk over to the waiting crowd to chat and shake hands. The birthday was truly a national event, with B-B-C television playing the national anthem on their news bulletins as a form of tribute. The Queen Mother was joined by other royals to mark her birthday with a family lunch, which included her daughter Queen Elizabeth the Second, Prince Charles and his two sons, Princes William and Harry. 01:22 vision ends You can license this story through AP Archive: http://www.aparchive.com/metadata/youtube/b8ad195b21fa9fb27a69293b43a4d853 Find out more about AP Archive: http://www.aparchive.com/HowWeWork

But that’s what people living in Europe have had to deal with: their own nation’s bloated government and the super-national government of Europe, now known as the European Union. Bureaucracy times two! How’s that for a horror show? Well, actually, you’ve no idea. It’s worse than you think. Believe me—I know, because for seventeen years, I’ve represented South East England as a member of the European Parliament, the EU’s legislative body. I was also leader of the UK Independence Party, or UKIP, where I lead Britain’s efforts to leave the European Union. To their everlasting credit, that’s just what happened on June the 23rd, 2016: The United Kingdom left the European Union. The world knows it as “Brexit.” Brexit is a statement of national sovereignty. Don’t misunderstand me: I like nations. I like borders. I like the people that live within those borders making their own laws. But I don’t like it when faceless bureaucrats make laws for nations they don’t even live in. But that’s what they do in the European Union. Imagine a Belgian telling a Brit how much he can charge his customers—or the reverse. The EU bureaucrats do this in a myriad of different ways, all day, every day. It is a conspiracy of the elites. Who are those elites? Well, they’re a bunch of self-important, overpaid, social engineers with useless college degrees who have never done a proper day’s work in their lives and have no connection with ordinary, decent people. I’ll take the good sense of an Italian farmer or a French baker over the arid intellectualism of an EU bureaucrat any day. And I say these things not as an anti-European; I love Europe! It’s a fantastic, exciting, great continent: different peoples, languages, and cultures. But these peoples, with their languages and cultures, have effectively been hijacked by a giant, ever-expanding bureaucracy: the European Union. People will say, “but isn’t there a parliament, a European parliament, that represents the people of Europe?” Well, yes, but this body has got no real power; it can’t make its own laws. Rather, the power resides with the European Commission. They’re unelected and they can’t be removed, and that’s how absurd the whole thing is. The European Parliament meets in Brussels. At least, that’s what I thought when I was elected there. But once a month, do you know what happens? They load the contents of our offices and papers into big, plastic trunks, and they put those trunks on lorries, and they drive them nearly 400 miles down Europe’s motorways to a French city called Strasbourg where, for four days, the contents of our offices, and our papers, are put into a new office, and the parliament then sits there. Twelve times a year this back-and-forth happens, and this from an organization who say they want to reduce their level of carbon footprint! This, from an organization whose accounts have not been given a clean bill of health by the auditors for the last twenty years! This…a parliament? It’s more like a traveling circus. Is home ownership out of reach for young Britons? | The Economist

08:19
Britain's housing crisis. Rocketing prices and limited construction are putting home ownership out of reach for many young Britons. As the election nears, few politicians have a realistic solution Click here to subscribe to The Economist on YouTube: http://econ.st/2F8I0jB Thirty-three-year-old Lucia Hull lives in Ealing, West London, with her husband and two children. She also lives with her parents in the same house she grew up in - which she left 15 years ago to make a life for herself. But like a growing number of young people she soon realized that setting up a home wouldn't be as easy as she thought. Lucia and her husband Connor used to live in Edinburgh but last year decided to move to London to be near Lucia's parents because childcare costs for their two young daughters were becoming unmanageable. Despite working full-time and earning average wages for West London, they would have to spend over half their joint income on rent if they were to live close enough to Lucia's parents to take advantage of their help. If the Hull's wanted to buy, the mortgage from both their salaries wouldn't even get them a two-bedroom flat. The Hulls are not alone in their predicament. Britain is facing a housing crisis. It's not a new problem. The years since 2010 have marked the lowest five-year period of construction since the end of the Second World War. It's estimated at least 250,000 houses need to be built every year in England to keep up with population and household growth. In 2014, less than half that number were built. That's down to a combination of NIMBYism, outdated planning regulations, and a lack of political will. More housing is urgently needed to bring down costs and give Britain's growing population somewhere to live. Despite this, housing and how to build more of it remains a political hot potato. None of Britain's main parties seems to have a realistic plan for fixing it. The Conservatives have said that if they're reelected they'll build 200,000 low priced starter homes by 2020 - these will be available to 20% discount to first-time buyers under 40 and the prices will be capped at £450,000 in London and £250,000 elsewhere. Labour's promise is even more ambitious. They've said they'll build 200,000 homes per year by 2020. This worries people like Tom Papworth who think that neither party's plans will deliver the number of houses Britain so desperately needs. One solution to Britain's housing crisis would be to build more houses in places like Iver. Iver is just 22 minutes from London by train. The government's new Crossrail project will soon shorten that journey further, making Iver the ideal commuter town. Currently only 11,000 people live in Iver and further building is largely prohibited because so much of the area falls within the Greenbelt. The Greenbelt was a policy instituted shortly after the Second World War to protect large swathes of land around English major cities from further development. The idea was to safeguard agricultural land so the country could feed itself, and to encourage the regeneration of inner-cities following extensive bombing and the spread of slum housing. The Greenbelt is an area and an issue that many Britons feel strongly about. If the classifications were redrawn, new housing could be created with no damage to the beautiful and valuable natural areas within the Greenbelt. If the solution is so straightforward, what's the problem? As so often it comes down to politics. The issue is politically toxic and few politicians are willing to touch it - particularly during an election. Lucia and her young family must now choose between opportunities in the city or affordable housing elsewhere. For now, the Hull's have little choice but to stay with her parents - but is not a permanent solution and as the children grow they'll need more space. Feeling trapped, the couple have considered moving to Northern Ireland where Connors family lives because the prices are more manageable. Kate Middleton's Royal Baby Will Be Born On Queen Elizabeth’s Birthday

02:53
Latest Hollywood Gossip, News & Celeb Pics Kate Middleton due date: Could royal baby be born on Queen’s birthday KATE Middleton, the Duchess of Cambridge, is expected to give birth to her third child with husband Prince William sometime in April. Could the royal baby be born on the Queen’s birthday? Here are the latest odds. Kate and William will welcome a third child to their family next month, following the births of Prince George in 2013 and Princess Charlotte in 2015. The royal couple announced they were expecting baby number three on September 4 last year but it was not clear how long she had been pregnant. However, Kate has again been suffering from an extreme form of morning sickness hyperemesis gravidarum as she did with her first two pregnancies, meaning they were announced before the 12-week mark. So it is likely the announcement was made earlier than would have been planned - with Kensington Palace announcing Kate was pregnant with George and Charlotte before the 12-week mark. However, Kensington Palace have been able to keep the lid on when the baby is due. Earlier this month, a royal source claimed the Duchess of Cambridge is due to have her third child on the feast day of St George on Monday, April 23. The source said: “There's no certainty with due dates of course but the Duchess is working off a date around St George’s Day and it would be a lovely patriotic coincidence if he or she were born then. “The one thing that is certain though, if it’s a boy he won’t be called George! Prince George has already taken that one. “Or if she’s very late, as she was with George’s birth, she could even make it a very special wedding anniversary present to William, as they celebrate seven years of marriage on the 29th April.” But if Kate is a few days early, the royal birth could fall on the Queen’s actual birthday. Queen Elizabeth II actually has two birthdays, celebrating her official one on June 9 this year. But the actual date of her birth is April 21 - meaning she could be about to share a birthday with her newest grandchild. The official royal family website reads: “Official celebrations to mark Sovereigns' birthday have often been held on a day other than the actual birthday, particularly when the actual birthday has not been in the summer. “King Edward VII, for example, was born on 9 November, but his official birthday was marked throughout his reign in May or June when there was a greater likelihood of good weather for the Birthday Parade, also known as Trooping the Colour. “The Queen usually spends her actual birthday privately, but the occasion is marked publicly by gun salutes in central London at midday: a 41 gun salute in Hyde Park, a 21 gun salute in Windsor Great Park and a 62 gun salute at the Tower of London.” This year, the Queen will celebrate her 91st birthday. Given she is still attending public engagements, it is likely the Duchess’ due date must be towards the end of April. As The Duchess of Cambridge enters the final few weeks of her third pregnancy, the bookies have opened up betting on when the latest addition will enter the world, and the Queen's birthday is the early favourite at 10/1. 12/1 is the price on offer the baby is born a couple of days later on St George's Day - April 23rd.

Briton arrested in Thailand after being found with six roasted human foetuses covered in gold leaf

00:36
A British man has been arrested in Thailand after being found with six foetuses that had been roasted and covered in gold leaf as part of a black magic spirit ritual.http://www.secretsofthefed.com/flashback-british-man-arrested-with-gold-wraped-roasted-dead-babies-for-use-in-illuminati-ritual-w-video/ Chow Hok Kuen, who is 28 and of Taiwanese origin, was held by police after the grisly discovery was made in Bangkok's Chinatown district yesterday. Reports says the six foetuses had been covered in gold leaf after being roasted as part of a black magic ritual. It is not clear where the bodies came from, but Chow Hok Kuen is believed to have been attempting to smuggle them into Taiwan. The bodies were reportedly found in a different hotel from the one Chow Hok Kuen was staying at, but were in his luggage. Police made the arrest after responding to information they'd received saying that infant corpses were being offered to wealthy clients via a black magic services website. "The bodies are of children between the ages of two and seven months. Some were found covered in gold leaf," Wiwat Kumchumnan, sub-division chief of the police's Children and Women Protection unit, said. For being in possession of the foetuses Chow Hok Kuen could now face a 2,000 baht fine and a year in prison. It is thought the corpses were bought from a Taiwanese national for 200,000 baht ($6,40 but could have been sold for six times that amount in Taiwan.

The Theresa May-led Conservative Party Government has come under increased pressure and a barrage of criticisms from Labour MPs in the UK regarding the administration's failure to address pressing concerns impacting the Windrush Generation. The Empire Windrush was the ship that brought workers from the West Indies, including Jamaica, to Britain in 1948. Commonwealth citizens living in the UK had been granted indefinite leave to remain as stipulated in provisions under the 1971 Immigration Act. However, the immigration law was amended in 2012, making it a requirement for people to have documentation to work, rent property or access healthcare benefits. This posed a significant challenge to the Windrush Generation, leaving people fearful about their status. British Home Secretary Amber Rudd y apologised for the "appalling" treatment meted out to the Windrush Generation by the Government. David Lammy, UK Labour Party MP and Windrush descendant, said it was a "day of national shame". Representatives of 12 Caribbean countries, including Jamaica’s Prime Minister Andrew Holness held talks with the UK government at the Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting in the UK. During bilateral talks with Holness at Downing Street in London May said she deeply valued the contribution made by the Windrush generation and all Commonwealth citizens who have made a life in the United Kingdom. According to May, Jamaica is a key Commonwealth partner, with over 800,000 members of the Diaspora residing in the UK and over 200,000 Britons visiting Jamaica each yearneration issue

British tourist is arrested over the death of a Thai hooker - Daily Mail

00:36
Reece Vella, from Worcester, was arrested on Sunday afternoon after bar girl Wannipa Janhuathon (pictured left), 26, fell to her death in the early hours of Saturday in Pattaya, Thailand. The former soldier, who followed his two older brothers into the military, quit the army after suffering from PTSD. Vella served as a private in the Royal Logistics Corps (pictured right in uniform), headquartered at Deepcut Barracks in Surrey, until he left nearly five years ago. During his service, his brother Andrayoss claimed he was one of the top 100 shots in the British Army. His brother said after leaving the army, he suffered with depression and 'fell into the wrong crowd', serving a stint in prison. But it has been claimed this stretch was for the rape of a teenage girl he was convicted of in 2012. Ed Accura - A Film Called Blacks Can't Swim (Official Movie Soundtrack)

04:05
LONDON - The soon to be released, “A Film Called Blacks Can't Swim” featuring the new music soundtrack from Ed Accura. This is a tongue and cheek documentary styled short film based around Ed learning how to swim. Ed is a Black Briton of African descent and hence fits the stereotype of blacks not swimming. A Film Called Blacks Can't Swim highlights, challenges and discusses some very interesting perceptions on the myths and stereotypes that surround this topic. Some of these views may be deemed controversial or objectionable and that’s just what adds to making this a great film. Swimming Nature, UK’s premium provider of bespoke swimming tuition has initiated the challenge of teaching Ed how to swim and documenting it as part of the film. The objective is to raise awareness around the high percentage of people of black origin that fit in this category. There clearly must be a reason behind the disproportionate odds. “A Film Called Blacks Can't Swim” highlights some of the most popular myths behind this. Is it a cultural or physical thing? Some of the reasons we constantly hear include social issues such as not swimming because the parents didn’t and hence didn’t introduce their children to swimming at an early age, not having access to swimming pools, historic fear of drowning, black women not wanting to get their hair wet and last but not least is one that keeps coming up, the difference in bone density. Africa has the highest drowning rate in the world with fatalities due to shortages of life jackets and the fact that most people in the region are not able to swim. Even though many say the idea that black people can't swim is nonsense, there must be a reason behind the disproportionate odds that the figures clearly indicate. The soundtrack to “A Film Called Blacks Can't Swim” was recorded in a humorous tongue in cheek fashion and questions the seemingly overlooked epidemic of why blacks can’t swim. Swimming is a survival skill and if nothing else, global warming is here, and sea levels are rising. In Ed’s own words he stated that this is his chance to learn to swim, eradicate the myth and create awareness, but if all fails I’ll continue to avoid all pool parties and move to a house on a big hill! The film is due out Late 2018 with the soundtrack currently available on YouTube. For More Information Frank Awuah 0044(0)7956186049 admin@edaccura.com twitter.com/FilmCant

Sir Winston Churchill - Funeral (I Vow To Thee) - The Nation's Farewell

05:29
I Vow To Thee / Thaxted / Jupiter arranged by Geoff Knorr and performed by the Prague FILMharmonic under the conduction of Andy Brick. Spread the word of true greatness. Forward to a friend. Day of Sorrow Sir Winston Churchill 1874 - 1965 I Vow To Thee My Country - Gustav Holst Sir Winston Leonard Spencer-Churchill, KG, OM, CH, TD, PC, DL, FRS (30 November 1874 -- 24 January 1965) was a British politician and statesman known for his leadership of the United Kingdom during the Second World War. He is widely regarded as one of the great wartime leaders. He served as Prime Minister twice (1940--45 and 1951--55). A noted statesman and orator, Churchill was also an officer in the British Army, a historian, a writer, and an artist. To date, he is the only British prime minister to have received the Nobel Prize in Literature, and he was the first person to be made an honorary citizen of the United States.[1] Churchill was born into the aristocratic family of the Dukes of Marlborough. His father, Lord Randolph Churchill, was a charismatic politician who served as Chancellor of the Exchequer; his mother, Jenny Jerome, an American socialite. As a young army officer, he saw action in British India, the Sudan and the Second Boer War. He gained fame as a war correspondent and through books he wrote about his campaigns. At the forefront of politics for fifty years, he held many political and cabinet positions. Before World War I, he served as President of the Board of Trade, Home Secretary and First Lord of the Admiralty as part of the Asquith Liberal government. During the war, he continued as First Lord of the Admiralty until the disastrous Gallipoli Campaign, which he had sponsored, caused his departure from government. He then served briefly on the Western Front, commanding the 6th Battalion of the Royal Scots Fusiliers. He returned to government as Minister of Munitions, Secretary of State for War, and Secretary of State for Air. After the War, Churchill served as Chancellor of the Exchequer in the Conservative (Baldwin) government of 1924--29, controversially returning the pound sterling in 1925 to the gold standard at its pre-War parity, a move widely seen as creating deflationary pressure on the UK economy. Also controversial were Churchill's opposition to increased home rule for India, and his resistance to the 1936 abdication of Edward VIII. Out of office and politically "in the wilderness" during the 1930s, Churchill took the lead in warning about the danger from Hitler and in campaigning for rearmament. On the outbreak of World War II, he was again appointed First Lord of the Admiralty. Following the resignation of Neville Chamberlain on 10 May 1940, Churchill became Prime Minister. His steadfast refusal to consider defeat, surrender or a compromise peace helped inspire British resistance, especially during the difficult early days of the War when Britain stood alone in its active opposition to Hitler. Churchill was particularly noted for his speeches and radio broadcasts, which helped inspire the British people. He led Britain as Prime Minister until victory had been secured over Nazi Germany. After the Conservative Party lost the 1945 election, he became Leader of the Opposition. In 1951, he again became Prime Minister, before retiring in 1955. Upon his death, The Queen granted him the honour of a state funeral, which saw one of the largest assemblies of world statesmen ever.

Johnson on Myanmar, help for Britons affected by Irma

01:31
(6 Sep 2017) UK Foreign Secretary Boris Johnson pledged support on Wednesday for those living in the path of Hurricane Irma, which is passing over the British Virgin Islands. Irma roared into the Caribbean with record force early on Wednesday, its powerful winds shaking homes and flooding buildings on a chain of small islands along a path toward Puerto Rico, the Dominican Republic, Haiti, Cuba and a possible direct hit on south Florida. Johnson also called the treatment of the Rohingyas in Myanmar "unacceptable". He warned that the civilian government needed support to ensure the crisis is not used as an excuse by the military to resume rule in Myanmar. Tim Loughton MP - House of Commons - Treasury Questions

00:58
During the first session of Treasury Questions since the re-shuffle, I welcomed the Chief Secretary back to his place and commend to him last year’s “Building Great Britons” report by the all-party parliamentary group for the first 1,001 critical days, which I chair. The report revealed that the cost of getting it wrong on perinatal mental health and child neglect is some £23 billion. I asked him whether he agreed that investing in young people at an early stage is every bit as beneficial to the economy as investing in roads and infrastructure.

Young boy cleaning debris amongst damaged furniture 16. Damaged pictures of the Shiite cleric Moqtada al-Sadr 17. Onlookers gathering outside restaurant STORYLINE The British ambassador to Iraq, Dominic Asquith, on Thursday issued an appealed to the kidnappers of five Britons, held since May 29, to release them or open negotiations. The five - four security guards and a consultant - were abducted on from the Iraqi Finance Ministry by some 40 heavily armed men who then rode off with them in the direction of Sadr City. Iraqi officials have said they believed they were taken by the radical Shiite Mahdi Army militia, possibly in retaliation for the killing by British forces of the militia's commander in the southern city of Basra. Speaking in Arabic Asquith asked those holding the men "to release them so they may return to their families". "The policy of the British government with regard to such incidents and cases is clear and well-known to everybody; we do not condone these actions and we intend to make every serious effort to release those men. We will do our utmost to help them and their families during these hard times," he added. Meanwhile, US and Iraqi troops carried out raids in Baghdad's Sadr City early on Thursday, as part of the continuing search for the Britons and ongoing security crackdown in the city. On the offensive early Thursday, a joint Iraqi-American force raided locations in Baghdad's Sadr City and detained 16 suspected members of a "secret cell terrorist network" believed to have been helping transport weapons, including advanced roadside bombs, from Iran to Iraq, the US command reported. An Iraqi police officer said two on-duty policemen in the area were wounded by random fire from the raiding party. Um Hussein, owner of a house raided by troops accused the attacking force of arresting the men of the household and confiscating her property. ''At one a.m (0900GMT) they stormed into our house. They arrested our men and humiliated our children. They confiscated our money, our mobile phones and pistols,'' she said. The aftermath of raids on another house and a small restaurant were also filmed by AP television. The city is known as a stronghold of the Mahdi army, Shiite supporters of the Shiite cleric Moqtada al-Sadr. BBC pull video aimed at children claiming immigration is in ‘our DNA’

01:01
The BBC was forced to withdraw a documentary on immigration branded “shallow, unbalanced and unrepresentative” amid accusations it breached impartiality rules and didn’t treat the topic with due care and objectivity. The BBC film aimed at GCSE pupils claimed Britain was “multicultural long before curry and carnival” and there isn’t such a thing as “pure Briton”. The assumptions made in the video, which had been in circulation since May, sparked a backlash. Migration Watch UK launched a scathing complaint with the think-tank arguing the documentary failed to treat the delicate subject with care and objectivity. In the animated video, part of a series called Don't Hate the Debate, the voiceover said: “Think immigration is a recent thing? Think again. “Because you see, you got the Celts, the Romans, the Anglo-Saxons and the Vikings, the Normans, the Flemish, the Irish, black Britons and Jewish people. “Yep, we were multicultural long before curry and carnival - its in our DNA.” The video then seemed to issue a thinly-veiled attack on some right-wing parties calling for measures to curb immigration. The speaker said: “There is no such thing as pure Briton. “Despite what some flag wielders would have you believe, the average Briton is only 36 percent Anglo-Saxon.” This claim was attacked by Migration Watch, which said: “The average British person's DNA is at least 90 per cent European. “The impact of modern inflows of hundreds of thousands a year is entirely different from the fusing of a comparatively small number from Northern European tribes in the centuries preceding Norman times.“ Lord Green of Deddington, founding chairman of Migration Watch, argued that the discussion between young people sparked by the video was “shallow, unbalanced and unrepresentative”. And he wrote to BBC chairman Sir David Clementi saying: “Most people in the UK are not opposed to immigration per se, but they are concerned, we think rightly, about its present scale. “Yet the overall impression of the video is that anyone who questions its current scale is unreasonable and prejudiced. “The video seems designed not to inform and stimulate discussion but to promote a particular opinion.” Following the withdrawal of the video, a BBC spokesman said: “Don't Hate the Debate is a series of films designed to help teachers enable classroom debates about topical issues. “Each film includes a real debate between four young people, all giving views on a topic. “While we believe the film did convey the broad elements of the immigration debate, we accept further efforts could have been made to involve contributors with a more diverse range of opinions, so we removed the video.” Lord Green of Deddington welcomed the decision, saying: “It is refreshing that Sir David Clementi saw immediately that the material was unacceptably biased and ordered its withdrawal and revision.”
