Before we start I have to bring up a misconception about supplements that many people have especially beginners. It may be hard for you to get enough protein from your diet and supplementing with protein powder can definitely help you hit your Macros. It's also great to have after a workout and when you're on the go. There are so many different types of protein that I have a whole video specifically about protein powders that I'll link up at the end. But I really like whey protein because it's cheap it tastes good and your body is very efficient with it. My favorite brand is Optimum Nutrition 100% gold standard whey isolate. If you're lactose intolerant consider an egg-based protein powder instead. The Next supplement that works very well is creatine. Different people will experience different results with different types of creatine and there are a lot of different types. Monohydrate is pretty much the most basic form of creatine, probably the cheapest, and it happens to be the most studied. Creatine monohydrate has proven itself in study after study so it's a pretty safe bet to start with. There are many other types like kre akalybn for example that claim to reduce bloating and claim to eliminate the need to cycle off of creatine. However not one type of creatine has the kind of backing with scientific evidence that monohydrate has. My favorite creatine brand is probably the cheapest one. It's just plain Monohydrate from Now sports. I used to take cell tech hardcore when I used to bulk and it would always help me put on some weight. However this was like 5 years ago so they've probably change the formula by now and the old formula used to have tons of sugar in it. Like I said now if I take creatine it'll be the plain monohydrate from Now sports. Next up are your stimulants and your supplements that give you energy. Nitric oxide, caffeine, vitamin b, and beta alanine again that's all you need. Nitric oxide will help give you a great pump during your workouts and will also give you a bunch of energy and help you squeeze out those last couple reps. Beta alanine will decrease lactic acid build-up in your muscles during your sets. Which will allow you to recover faster between your sets. By decreasing fatigue beta alanine will also be another great tool to help you push out extra reps. The one side effect of beta alanine is that youll feel pins and needles when you first start taking it but it'll become less intense over time. Caffeine and vitamin B you can take anytime.

Supplements WILL give you a boost....of maybe................... they might make up for 5% of your results that's it. 5 percent could be all you need to take it to take it to the next level but you will never take it to the next level with supplements alone. Okay so now that you know the truth about supplements the first one that you want to get is protein powder. When you do intense bodybuilding workouts in which you're trying purposely to break down your muscles you're going to need around one gram of protein per pound of body weight. Drop lower lije three-quarters of a gram of protein per pound of body weight and you'll still be fine. Taking protein powder is not just going to build muscle. I know that might seem obvious to some of you but trust me I work with a lot of people so I have to clarify it's not just going to build muscle just by taking it. The protein shakes are just there to help you meet your protein requirements for the day. Keep in mind the protein that you get from real food is a lot more beneficial for building muscle so the majority of your protein should be still coming from real food. I definitely don't recommend that you take more than two protein shakes a day. As far as the protein shakes you can choose from so many different ones. And I don't want to confuse you so I'm just going to keep this simple. If you're looking for a protein powder to take after your workout you want to go with a whey protein isolate. If you want a protein as a meal replacement you want to go for the casein because it's a lot slower digesting sometimes taking up to 4 to 6 hours to digest. So the protein will release slower more like real food. As far as hardgainers you don't need them please don't waste your money on them. You can start with your protein powder in a blender and then add a cup of oatmeal, three to four whole soft boiled eggs, a tablespoon of regular sugar for flavor, a tablespoon of coconut oil, and then add high calorie almond milk, cashew milk or even whole milk if you're not lactose intolerant. Something I forgot to mention is that I would recommend seeing a doctor and getting a blood test done to see what vitamins and/or minerals your body is actually deficient in so you don't waste a bunch of money on supplements you don't need since you are getting them from your diet! Before I get started I would like to say something that will be a reoccurring theme throughout this video. Can supplements help? Yes. Do you need them to look the way you want to look? No. Supplements are just there to save time and maybe account for 5% of your results...Maybe...Probably not. On that note...here we go First up is protein powder. So many times I've been asked by people that don't know about what it takes to build muscle if I take protein shakes. As if it's so potent that if you drink a couple shakes your muscles will swell and get enormous. This is obviously far from the truth. The truth is that the most common type of protein powder used is whey protein powder. And whey protein is derived mostly from cows milk. So if you know that you're not going to get huge muscles from drinking cow's milk and eating cheese all day then what makes you think that you're going to get huge muscles from drinking protein shakes? Also this brings about another point. There are people out there that think that protein shakes are unhealthy, but those same people are drinking milk and eating dairy products. Which means that you're getting you're dose of whey protein anyway. If you hate whey protein so much then you can get egg protein, plant protein, and many more. But I promise you that whey protein is not that bad. I always liked 100% gold standard whey protein by optimum nutrition. And by the way I'm not sponsored by any supplement company. The gold standard protein has been voted number one by meat-heads everywhere so i tried it, liked it, and it worked well for me. But honestly any other protein powder would've have probably served fine as a meal replacement. BCAA's or branch chain amino acids are really great at keeping your body anabolic which means building muscle. The opposite of that would be catabolic which means breaking down muscle. It's great to take some BCAA's pre or post workout and before bed would be a really great time to take some. Taking Branch chain amino acids can help increase protein synthesis. Creatine is great to boost your strength and break through plateaus. Many times it does give you a bloated appearance because it will cause you to retain more water. However, this will give you a boost of energy and strength and get you working out harder. There's different types of creatine. Creatine Monohydrate is the basic kind that has been researched the longest and has had great effects on me. Kre alkalyn is another type of creatine that you don't have to cycle. Kre alkalyn never worked for me, but I know some people that love it because it's supposed to give you all the benefits without the water retention. If you wan't to get huge and don't care about bloat get some cell tech hardcore. Always made me gain like 10lbs. Cell tech hardcore is probably not the healthiest, but bodybuilding's hardly about health anymore, its about the gains right! Next take a Multi-Vitamin/multi mineral supplement. Because if you're American chances are you're not getting your vitamins from fruits and veggies. Fish Oil is great for the joints and prevents heart attacks. So take it. Beta alenine and L arginine are all you really need for a pre workout. occasionally you should throw in a pre workout or nitric oxide supplement to do an intense workout, but if you take pre workouts all the time they lose their effectiveness in amping you up. L Arginine will help give you a huge pump and beta alenine will lower lactic acid buildup in the muscles. Which is pretty much all you need. List of things you shouldn't be taking: Fat burners joke industry and dangerous Pre workouts with dosages way over what you need for the day. Trainer story. Well that's exactly what i want to go over today the 5 biggest & best muscle building tips for beginners & naturals. You might be thinking well who the heck are you to be giving me tips on building muscle & that's a very fair question. Afterall i spend most of the time on this channel talking about fat loss but my experience in fitness is firmly rooted in natural bodybuilding. I took myself from being a chubby teenager with hardly any muscle to a 230 pound fitness model & I did it all naturally. So if you want to learn how to build muscle using steroids there are probably way better sources out there but if you want to learn how to do it naturally give this video a chance because I spent over 10 years focusing on finding the fastest ways to build muscle, & in the process of opening 3 gyms I also prepped a lot of men & women for natural bodybuilding & bikini competitons. So today I want to give you all my most guarded muscle building secrets for free. I'm also going to do my best to make all these tips unique so it's not going to be the same old stuff that you've heard over & over again like simply telling you to eat more protein. With that said let's start with the very first tip which is to incorporate periodization. If done correctly this is one of the most powerful things you can do to improve your muscle strength & size consistently. In a nutshell periodization is the systematic breakdown of your training plan over the course of time & it will include micro meso & macro Cycles. Which will esentially break down your training plan in to weeks months & years. But instead of explaining to you every possible way that you could incorporate different cycles of periodization I'd rather give you guys a simple actionable plan to consistently make progress using the exact periodization strategy that helped me the most. Youre gonna start by finding out what maximal weight load you can lift for each of your compound exercises for roughly 9 to 10 reps. This means that if you select a weight that you can do for 11 reps you should up that weight & the same goes vice versa if you select a weight that's too heavy & you can only do it for 7 reps drop the weight. You're going to stick this rep range for 2 to 3 weeks straight & you're going to try to increase the weight that you're using over the course of these two to three weeks again staying within that 9 to 10 rep range. After those two to three weeks are over you're going to switch to a rep range of 5 to 7 reps. Again find the maximum weight you could do for that rep range which should obviously be more weight than what you were doing for 9 to 10 reps. Now you're going to stick to this new rep range for another two to three weeks once again trying to up the weight whenever you can as long as you stay Within that 5 to 7 rep range. Finally after youre done with those weeks you're going to do a rep range of 3 reps for all those compound exercises again for two to 3 weeks before switching back to the original 9 to 10 rep range. When you come back to the 9 to 10 rep range you'll notice that you were significantly stronger & able to lift more weight. And you just continuously work through these Cycles. Every time you come back to an old rep range you want to try to increase your weight load even if it's by 2.5 lbs. This method helped me break through some of my biggest plateaus that I've experienced with building muscle. Literally do exactly that & I promise you won't be disappointed with your results. Let's move on to the second tip increase meal frequency. Now I know this goes against my typical advice that I give for fat loss. For fat loss meal frequency doesn't matter that much but building muscle requires a lot of calories especially if youre struggling with building muscle you're going to need a lot of food. The only way that you're going to be able to eat enough throughout the day is by eating more often.

Despite protein powder (or “protein shakes”) being by far the most widely consumed supplement within the fitness industry, most people are lost when it comes to how to choose the best type of protein and even moreso when it comes to how to best use protein powder to build muscle. In this video, I’ll cover everything you need to know about protein. First off, let’s discuss the best type of protein. Although there’s several types of protein out there (whey protein, casein protein, plant-based protein, egg protein, hemp protein, vegan protein, pea protein, etc.) research shows that whey protein and casein protein are the two best options in terms of essential amino acid content and elevating protein synthesis. Whey is a fast-digesting protein whereas Casein is a slow-digesting protein. Research shows that Whey protein powder is superior to Casein protein powder and also has a slightly higher leucine content, so I’d stick with Whey – and more specifically, I’d stick with Whey isolate protein since it’s the purest form of Whey protein and contains the least lactose (if that’s an issue for you). However, as you’ll see, Casein does have a special application as well which you might want to consider. As for plant-based protein powders, although they spike protein synthesis to a smaller degree as animal-based protein powders do, this can be mitigated by ingesting a greater amount of plant protein powder and/or ensuring you get enough essential amino acids through your diet. Next, when it comes to when to take it, most people think you have to take your protein shake immediately post-workout. But, research shows that it depends on whether or not you’re in a fed or fasted state. If you’ve had protein prior to your workout, a post-workout protein shake isn’t necessary and you can take it at anytime. Whereas if you worked out fasted, having it immediately post-workout is ideal. And if you haven’t eaten before the gym yet, then research suggests taking your Whey protein shake before your workout is the better option when compared to after. As for how much to take, sticking to around 20-25g is enough to maximize protein synthesis – with 40g eliciting a slightly higher response. And as for how often to take it, you can take it daily (workout or not) to help you reach you goal daily protein intake. Lastly, when it comes to what to take it with, although co-ingestion of protein powder with carbs and/or fats does slow down digestion, it does not affect protein synthesis rates. Thus meaning you can take it with whatever you’d prefer. With that being said, taking your protein powder with dairy milk when bulking and taking it with almond milk or water when cutting is a good option to help you easily increase/decrease your calorie intake. So Today I'll be going over the 5 best ways to build muscle faster as a natural. And these aren't going to be just some random tips based on broscience, every tip is 100% backed by real scientific evidence. By following the recommendations drawn from the Decades of research on building muscle we can be guaranteed to get faster results. The first way to speed up results is by increasing training frequency, training intensity, and your training volume per session. Training frequency refers to the number of days per week that you work the same muscle groups. So if you only work each muscle in your body once a week, you'll have a lower training frequency than someone working each muscle 3 time a week. With training volume I'm referring to a combination of the total amount of sets and reps you perform for each muscle group. And intensity refers to the weight load you're using. You can think of the total amount of work your perform as frequency x sets x reps x weight load. Studies show that if your goal is to build more muscle we want to work on increasing the total amount of work performed over time as we adapt. One study compared the effects of working muscle groups 1 day per week using a split-body routine versus 3 days per week using a total-body routine. The total body routine 3 times a week had a significant advantage over the split training routine targeting each muscle one time per week. Those in the 3 time per week group experienced a 68 percent increase in quad thickness as well as much greater increases in forearm size and strength when compared to the 1 time per week group. Now this doesn't mean that split training is worse than full body training, because there are ways that you can perform split training more than once per week. One study found that the group supplementing with Hoodi – over 200 people – experienced a variety of side effects. The most common were nausea and vomiting. The placebo group had no problems at all. Beef Protein Powder Let me get one thing clear: the protein you get from eating real beef is great. It’s bioavailable, supports muscle building, and helps with weight management. With that said, beef protein powder supplements are not made from real meat. Beef protein powder is the result of taking cow leftovers such as bones and tendons, boiling them, then drying the results into a flavored powder form. It’s a way to make a cheap product and sell it at a higher price tag than the more popular whey protein. Beef protein powder has a terrible rate of bioavailability. There's so much misinformation out there on how to build muscle as a natural and even if you were to find the right information there's so much of it that it's easy to get overwhelmed and not take action. I felt that first hand as ive gone through phases where my goal was to strictly be as bulky as possible and other phases where the goal was to get as lean as possible. Over the years of going through dirty bulks, clean bulks, cutting phases, trying different supplements, as well as constantly modifying my workout plan I went through a lot of trial and error. And I want you to avoid making the same mistakes that I did so you can see results as fast as possible by focusing on the things that truly matter when it comes to building muscle while ignoring the rest. So today I want to go over the 5 biggest muscle building mistakes that you're probably making that are preventing you from seeing the gains you deserve. Let's jump right In and start with the biggest workout related mistake that beginners and advanced people make. Always sticking to the same rep range. There is a rep range that is believed to better for building muscle and even though there's a lot of debate about what the best rep range is most people will agree that it falls somewhere between 6 to 12 reps. The best results that I noticed were always within a narrower rep range of 5 or 6 to 8 reps. However by constantly sticking to this same rep range you're going to have a lot of trouble making progress especially after you're no longer a beginner and results start slowing down. This is why you want to spend time with three different rep ranges low moderate and high. Your moderate rep range could be 6 to 8 reps. Your low rep range wlcould be roughly 3 to 4 reps and your high rep range could be 12 to 15 reps. You would spend two to three weeks working on each rep range and you would do this because each rep range has benefits that will transfer over to the other rep ranges helping you get stronger and build muscle faster. The three to four rep range allows you to lift a much heavier weight which will then make the weight that you were using for your moderate and higher rep ranges a lot easier allowing you to lift heavier weights for those rep ranges as well.
