How hard disks work Internal of a hard disk drive If you are to dismantle the hard disk drive by opening the top casing (after removing all the necessary screws), the first thing you'll see is a spindle holding one or a number of mirror-like hard rotating platters (commonly called data platter). The platters could be made to spin at an extremely high speed, technically between 5,400 to 10,000 revolutions per minute (RPM). An extremely thin magnetic coating is layered onto the surface of the platter that is polished to mirror-type smoothness. The platter is usually made of glass or ceramic (modern platter may use titanium). Unlike a floppy disk, the platter cannot be bent or flipped and hence we coin it as "hard disk" or "hard drive". Commonly a hard disk contains 1 to 10 identical platters that are stacked in parallel to form a cylinder. There is usually one Read Write (RW) head designated per platter face, and each head is attached to a single actuator shaft which moves all heads in unison and performs a uniform synchronous motion during reading or writing of data. Data on a hard disk is stored in microscopic areas called magnetic domains on the magnetic material. Each domain stores either a 1 or 0 value. Similar to a floppy disk, a hard disk records its data in concentric circles or tracks, which are numbered from the outermost edge to the innermost edge of the platter. These tracks are further subdivided into smaller units called sectors which typically store 512 bytes of data each. Zoning may be needed to further optimise the data storage as the outer circumference would normally pack more sector units than the inner circumference. Read Write Head The RW head is the key component that performs the reading and writing functions. It is placed on a slider which is in term connected to an actuator arm which allow the RW head to access various parts of the platter during data IO functions by sliding across the spinning platter. The sliding motion is derived by passing a current through the coil which is part of the actuator-assembly. As the coil is placed between two magnets, the forward or backward sliding motion is hence derived by simple current reversal. This location of the platter (just like the landmark along the road) is identified and made possible by the embedded servo code written on the platter. Flying Height To write a piece of information to the disk, an electromagnetic flux is transmitted through the head which hovers very closely to the platter. The RW head suspends on a thin cushion of air which the spinning platter induces. This designed distance between the head and platter is called the flying height. It can literally measure to a few millionths of an inch. A good analogy is to try to imagine flying a Boeing 747 with about 6 inches above ground level. It is therefore easy to understand that if the RW head happens to "knock" on the spinning platter out of design specification, a Read Write head crash occurs. Read Write Function of Disk As the head writes data onto the disk, it changes its magnetic polarization to induce either a one or zero value. During a read request, data is interpreted when the magnetic fields on the platter brings about an electrical change (as a result of change in electrical resistance of some special material property) in the read-head that passes over it. These electrical fields are then encoded and transmitted to the CPU to be processed and read by the system. Parking of RW Head The read/write head will move to the parking zone when the computer is switched off. When the computer is switched off, the head is usually pulled to a safe parking zone to prevent the head from scratching against the data zone on platter when the air bearing subsides. This process is called a parking and different techniques have been implemented in various hard disks to handle the take offs and landings. In a Ramp load/unload design, a lifting mechanism parks the head outside.

NEWS Huawei reveals Nova 2 and Nova 2 Plus with dual rear cameras and 20 MP front camera 11 Huawei has just announced the Nova 2 (below) and Nova 2 Plus (above) at an event in China. Huawei confirmed last week that the handsets would be unveiled soon, and now we've got all the details. Sequels to the original Nova and Nova Plus from 2016, the new devices once again come in metal unibodies with almost identical specs: the major differences between them lie in the display size and the battery, with the Plus model having the larger of both. While last year's phones were something of a letdown in the camera department, it looks like Huawei has aimed to address this on the successors, providing dual 12 MP + 8 MP rear cameras and 20 MP selfie cameras on both devices. If nothing else, these phones should deliver in the photography department: check out the core specs below. Huawei Nova 2 specs Display: 5-inch, Full-HD (1920 x 1080 pixels) LTPS 2.5D display Processor: octa-core HiSilicon Kirin 659 processor with MaliT830-MP2 GPU Memory: 4 GB of RAM and 64 GB of internal storage space, expandable up to 128 GB via microSD Cameras: 12 MP + 8 MP rear camera with LED flash, 1.25μm pixel size, PFAF, f/1.8 aperture. 20 MP front-facing camera Battery: 2,950 mAh battery SIM: Hybrid Dual SIM (nano + nano/microSD) Software: Android 7.0 Nougat with EMUI 5.1 Sound: AK4376A Hi-Fi audio chip, 3D surround sound, 3.5 mm headphone jack: Fingerprint sensor: Yes Dimensions: 142.2 x 68.9 x 6.9 mm Weight: 143 g Connectivity: 4G LTE, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, Bluetooth 4.2, GPS / GLONASS, USB Type-C Huawei Nova 2 Plus specs Display: 5.5-inch, Full-HD (1920 x 1080 pixels) LTPS 2.5D display Processor: octa-core HiSilicon Kirin 659 processor with MaliT830-MP2 GPU Memory: 4 GB of RAM and 128 GB of internal storage space, expandable up to 128 GB via microSD Cameras: 12 MP + 8 MP rear camera with LED flash, 1.25μm pixel size, PFAF, f/1.8 aperture. 20 MP front-facing camera Battery: 3,340 mAh battery SIM: Hybrid Dual SIM (nano + nano/microSD) Software: Android 7.0 Nougat with EMUI 5.1 Sound: AK4376 audio chip, 3.5 mm headphone jack Fingerprint sensor: Yes Dimensions: 153.9 x 74.9 x 6.9 mm Weight: 169 g Connectivity: 4G LTE, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, Bluetooth 4.2, GPS / GLONASS, USB Type-C The Nova 2 and Nova 2 Plus will be available in blue, green, gold, black and rose gold color variants, with the prices set at 2499 yuan (around $365) for the Nova 2 and 2899 yuan (around $423) for the Nova 2 Plus (note that the Nova 2 Plus model also comes with an extra 64 GB of internal storage space). They're up for pre-order now and will go on sale in China on June 16 but we don't have any further availability details just yet. We reached out to Huawei regarding the matter and a spokesperson told us it had nothing to share right now but hoped to have more info soon.

A body farm is a research facility where decomposition can be studied in a variety of settings. In 1971 a forensic pathologist named Ben Caleb Sturgill thought up the idea along with another pathologist. They were invented by an anthropologist named William Bass in 1972, after he had realized how little was known about decomposition of the human body. Previous to this, in the 1970s, pig remains were used to study decomposition processes. The aim is to gain a better understanding of the decomposition process, permitting the development of techniques for extracting information such as the timing and circumstances of death from human remains. Body farm research is of particular interest in forensic anthropology and related disciplines, and has applications in the fields of law enforcement and forensic science. By placing the bodies outside to face the elements, researchers are able to get a better understanding of the decomposition process. Six such facilities exist in the United States, with the research facility operated by Texas State University at Freeman Ranch being the largest at 26 acres in area.

Bitcoin faced one of its biggest tests this week, losing almost a quarter of its value after the world’s largest cryptocurrency reached a record high Monday. The digital currency plunged as much as 30 percent on Friday, before paring losses, as this week’s selloff entered a fourth day with increasing momentum. Other cryptocurrencies also tumbled: ethereum dropped as much as 36 percent and litecoin slumped as much as 43 percent, according to composite prices on Bloomberg. On December 21st, 2017 we began to see a long overdue correction in Bitcoin’s value. This is not the first time this has happened and certainly won’t be the last. What you need to know about why Bitcoin’s value is decreasing. We are simply seeing what many others have suggested was coming, a correction. For those that are new to the cryptocurrency world or investment world in general. this is a common occurrence following such an amazing upward price trend. First, let’s take Bitcoin’s value in perspective over the last month. Bitcoin is still up over 58% over the last month! Those kinds of gains are impossible in most other investment arenas. Still don’t feel good about watching the value hit a correction? Take a look at Bitcoin’s value over the last year. Bitcoin is up almost 1400% this year! Now, most of you probably were not involved in Bitcoin last December, but if you were then you are used to these kinds of fluctuations. That is an astronomical gain over the course of one year. With those gains brought a lot of public awareness and new money into the space. Many of those new users are panic selling and are causing a larger than normal price drop. Let’s take a look at what we can expect to happen next if we hold on to our current positions. technical analysis, coinbase, bitcoin, bitcoin price, bitcoin price prediction, btc, bitcoin prediction, cryptocurrency, ethereum, litecoin, bitcoin price prediction 2018, bitcoin prediction 2018, crypto, bitcoin mining, how to buy bitcoin, bitcoin 2018 price prediction, bitcoin price prediction 2017, 2018 bitcoin prediction, bitcoin 2018, what is bitcoin, price prediction, prediction, bitcoin news, bitcoin correction, blockchain, bitcoin future, trading, ripple, coinbase

7 Things in Baahubali Copied / Inspired by Rajamouli ? Copy and Inspiration have a thin line of variation and there are different opinions on deciding whether something is a copy or Inspiration. SS rajamouli faced the wrath of Plagiarism from movie fans all over the world for his previous movies. Same thing happened with the Baahubali which shattered all the existing records of a film made in India. Here are the things which rajamouli copied or inspired to make Baahubali. 1) New Language – KilKil (Game of Thrones) Rajamouli created a new language named KilKil for Kaalakeya and his army. This language is entirely a new one created for baahubali with many new words and click sounds. This new language is inspired from the TV series Game of Thrones where Khal Drogo and his people will be seen talking a new language. 2) Trisula Vyuham (Alexander) As a part of war strategy, the Mahishmathi army decides to use Trisula vyuham which is a new method of practice to confuse the rivalry army. This scene is lifted off from the hollywood movie Alexander. 3) Climax (Game of Thrones) The climax of Bahubali – The beginning is abrupt and incomplete with a shocking note to the audience. This is also inspired from TV series Game of Thrones where every season ends with these type of instances. There are many other TV series which ends in a similar fashion but Game of Thrones is almost a similar plot with kings and kingdoms. 4) Story Plot (Mayura) The basic plot of Baahubali is inspired from the Kannada super hit movie Mayura Starring Kannada Super Star Rajkumar . Only similarity is the story plot but the treatment is entirely different. 5) Queen As the Head (Game of Thrones) Ramya Krishna will be seen as the strong willed woman and the head of the Mahishmathi Kingdom after the demise of King. Same happens with the Daenerys Tragaryen Aka Mother of Dragons in Game of Thrones where she takes care of the kingdom after Khal Drogo. The scenes such as a part of the kingdom teasing the rule of a Lady and their revolt against the queen are similar to that of Game of Thrones. 6) Soldiers as Shield (Hercules) The soldiers of Mahishmathi Kingdom forms a shield of wall to protect them from the Kalakeya Kingdom. This scene is inspired form the Hollywood movie Hercules Starring Dwayne Johnson (Rock). 7) War Episode (Troy and 300) The war episode in the second half is the major highlight of Baahubali. It was brilliantly made by Rajamouli where as some of the shots are inspired from Hollywood movies Troy and 300) Note : Consider all of them as just inspirations and it is time to praise rajamouli for making us proud and helping Indian cinema to reach heights.

When you plug the vacuum cleaner in and turn it on, this is what happens: The electric current operates the motor. The motor is attached to the fan, which has angled blades (like an airplane propeller). As the fan blades turn, they force air forward, toward the exhaust port (check out How Airplanes Work to find out what causes this). When air particles are driven forward, the density of particles (and therefore the air pressure) increases in front of the fan and decreases behind the fan. This pressure drop behind the fan is just like the pressure drop in the straw when you sip from your drink. The pressure level in the area behind the fan drops below the pressure level outside the vacuum cleaner (the ambient air pressure). This creates suction, a partial vacuum, inside the vacuum cleaner. The ambient air pushes itself into the vacuum cleaner through the intake port because the air pressure inside the vacuum cleaner is lower than the pressure outside. As long as the fan is running and the passageway through the vacuum cleaner remains open, there is a constant stream of air moving through the intake port and out the exhaust port. But how does a flowing stream of air collect the dirt and debris from your carpet? The key principle is friction. vacuum cleaner, vacuum, cleaner, how it works, vacuum cleaner (product category), cleaning, do it yourself, robot, best vacuum cleaner, how to make best out of waste, how to make a air cooler, how, how to make best from waste, how to make a air pump, vacuum cleaner (invention), irobot, roomba, clean, creative ideas, creativity, hoover, dyson, demonstration

A sound file format is a file format for storing audio on a computer. There are several different formats, each with its own benefits and drawbacks. The difference between formats generally has to do with storage space versus sound quality. The processor of a computer typically decodes compressed sounds into a format that can be played by the computer. There are three main types of audio formats: uncompressed, lossless, and lossy. Uncompressed audio files, are not compressed at all, much like BMP images. They reproduce the audio perfectly, but take up a lot of space (around 10MB per minute), which can be precious in a Scratch project. Lossless audio files also reproduce the sound perfectly, but utilize compression schemes allowing them to be about half the size of an uncompressed file. These are useful in projects because they have lower file sizes while still keeping the same sound quality. However, the most common type is a lossy audio file. They remove parts of the audio that are harder to hear, such as extreme high and low frequencies. Lossy files also have different bitrates that change the sound quality, with the highest usually being 320kbit/s (kilobits per second) and the lowest usually used for music being 64kbit/s. Some formats also allow for a variable bitrate (VBR), which changes the bitrate as the music is more or less complex (with a limit) and these files usually have a lower filesize than those with a constant bitrate (CBR). A lossy MP3 file at 128kbit/s is about 1/11 the size of the same sound as an uncompressed audio file. The reason why that is important is because lossy audio file sizes are much lower compared to uncompressed or even lossless audio files, which can save a lot of space in a Scratch project.

Juno is a NASA spacecraft. It is exploring the planet Jupiter. Juno launched from Earth in 2011. It reached Jupiter in 2016. That was a five-year trip! The name "Juno" comes from stories told by the Romans long ago. In the stories, Juno was the wife of Jupiter. Jupiter hid behind clouds so no one could see him causing trouble. But Juno could see through the clouds. And the Juno spacecraft can see through the clouds of the planet Jupiter. Juno is helping scientists study Jupiter. What they learn will help us understand how Jupiter and other planets began. How Will Juno Study Jupiter? The Juno spacecraft launched aboard an Atlas V (Atlas “5”) rocket in August 2011. On July 4, 2016, Juno began its trip around Jupiter. The spacecraft did not land. Juno is called an "orbiter." This kind of spacecraft flies around, or orbits, a planet. Juno will orbit Jupiter 37 times in all. Juno will orbit Jupiter's north and south poles for about one year. One trip around Jupiter takes Juno about 14 days. Juno has science tools to study Jupiter's atmosphere. (The atmosphere is the layer of gases around a planet.) Juno will take the first pictures of Jupiter's poles. The spacecraft will study the lights around Jupiter's north and south poles, too. Juno gets its power from the sun. The spacecraft has three large solar panels around its six-sided body. Why Is NASA Studying Jupiter? Juno will help scientists understand how Jupiter was made. The spacecraft will help them learn how Jupiter has changed, too. The new discoveries can help us understand more about our solar system. And did you know scientists are now finding planets that do not orbit our sun? These planets orbit other stars. Juno will help us understand more about these other solar systems. What we learn could help us find more new planets!

WhatsApp is now available on the web and in a tablet app, meaning it's possible to simultaneously access your WhatsApp account on your phone, tablet, laptop or PC without a hack. Here's how to get WhatsApp on your phone, tablet, laptop AND your PC, all at once. iPhone support has also been announced by the company, so iOS users can now access WhatsApp Web. WhatsApp Web limitations Note that for now WhatsApp on the web works only with Android, BlackBerry, Nokia and Windows phones, and as of August 2015, iOS users. You must also be using the Google Chrome web browser, and make sure you are running the latest version of WhatsApp (in Android, launch the Google Play Store, tap the three lines icon at the top left, choose My apps and check whether an update is available for WhatsApp). WhatsApp Web iOS Support Though WhatsApp originally claimed that WhatsApp Web wouldn't be available for iPhone or iPad users due to restrictions in its iOS system, the company has quietly added support for the service. If you head over to the official WhatsApp Web page, you'll notice that "iPhone" has been added, though the company has yet to officially announce support. The update seems to be rolling out gradually, and iOS users can see whether its been activated for their accounts yet by accessing the Settings menu. Once accessed, you should see a "WhatsApp Web" menu - if not, sit tight and check again in a few hours. Step 1. Using WhatsApp in your web browser couldn't be easier. On your computer or tablet launch the Chrome browser (other browsers are not supported) and head to https://web.whatsapp.com. We tried this in OS X; it should work on any platform other than iOS using the Chrome browser and ensuring you are viewing the desktop site if you're doing so on a tablet. A QR code will pop up onscreen on your PC. You do not need a QR reader installed on your phone to read this. Note that if you're using a tablet you will need to request the desktop site in Chrome's settings (and no, this won't work in Chrome on an iPad, even if you have an Android phone). Step 2. Launch WhatsApp on your phone and access the settings menu (click the three dots at the top right to access more options on an Android device), then choose WhatsApp Web. Step 3. A QR reader will then open on your phone; point this at your PC screen to read the code and be automatically logged into WhatsApp on the web. Step 4. The interface will be familiar to WhatsApp phone users, but you should note that desktop notifications are supported, which you may want to switch off in the settings menu for privacy reasons if this is a shared PC. As on the phone, tapping the three-dot icon brings up more options. Select Notifications and then deselect Desktop Alerts and Sounds. Step 5. Starting a new conversation is slightly different on the desktop. As on the phone you can click the new message icon to select one of your contacts, but in WhatsApp on the web the search function lets you start new conversations as well as filter existing chats. Step 6. Within a conversation the interface matches that of the phone, with emoticon and mic icons sitting either side of the bottom text-entry field, and a paperclip icon at the top to attach files. Beside this is a more options icon that lets you view contact info. And as on the phone you get the single-, twin- and blue-tick system to show whether messages have been sent, delivered and read. Step 7. Once your phone and computer are connected you are able to manage your logged in computers from your phone via the Options, WhatsApp on the web menu. From here you can log out from all computers, or you can use the options menu in WhatsApp on the web to log out from the PC you're currently using. WhatsApp will by default keep you logged in unless you specify otherwise, but having logged out you'll need to go through the QR code process again the next time you want to log into WhatsApp on that machine. Messages between phone and browser are instantly synched, so users on limited mobile data contracts should be wary of increased data usage. It's a good idea to switch on your Wi-Fi if you're a heavy WhatsApp user.
